The cooker hood stopped working t'other day. I've discovered that the socket isn't working (I've plugged another appliance into it which I know works but doesn't in this socket.)

I've opened the socket, but I don't know what I'm doing and it looks fine to me. No circuit breakers have tripped. So what's next!? Do I just replace the socket or call an electrician!!?

Extractor fans tend to be on a fused spur with an isolating switch. Need to track that down and check the fuse (and make sure someone else hasn't turned it off). If the fuse has gone it's best to find the reason but changing it and seeing if it goes again will do for starters

I've just plugged the extractor into another socket via an extension and it definitely works.

There's no circuit breaker that I can say relates to the extractor because nothing on the main board has tripped and all other sockets and appliances are working as they should.

I'm not sure where this particular socket is drawing is power from.

Electrician time I guess!!
