I have a pass to head off on a biking adventure next year. The French Divide really appeals, but at a fortnight feels like it uses up a little too much holiday from work / home.

Ideally I fancy something point to point over a week / 9 days with easy transport links back to the UK at each end. I would prefer something that's a bit of a challenge, but not moving for 20 hours a day.

So far I am coming up with the North Coast 500 and the Highlands, West Coast & Glens Audax which whilst logistically convenient, a higher probability of warmth & sunshine on the continent would hold more sway.

I have a road bike which can be fitted bike packing style, a conventional touring bike set up or a 29" st full suss at my disposal...

So STW, what bike based adventures have you done / heard about?

Easy one that, I'd do the trans Sav!

Was chatting to one of the lads at enduro 2 this summer, he said it's the hardest thing he's done on a bike but would be doing it again.

Just checked the site, 6 days, 6000m of climbing, 25000m of descending 😀

If I had a week spare and some spare cash I'd be heading back to Iceland.

I've never done a cycling trip that long but have done a few shorter ones - north coast of France (calais to bruges and back). Le Havre to Cherbourg. London to Paris. East coast (Aberdeen to Newcastle). Currently planning a week in Morocco for the end of Jan. Flying into agadir and exploring the Anti Atlas for a week. Will arrange a transfer into the mountains, dump the bike bag and then bimble for a week.
Depends what you want to do really? My advice is to definitely do something abroad and don't have too fixed a plan. Don't get hung up on distance either. The aim is to enjoy it, not ruin yourself.
