I have just completed the 1st year of an Electrical/Electronic HNC course sponsored thru workas part of my development, this year however, I've been told that I have been given course funding, but I'll have to find the study time from outside of work hours.
Given that I do two nights of 3 hours study in my own time already, I'm at a loss as to how I will find the time, as I have a young family, and had effectivly stopped biking during HNC1 to fit everything in.
Has anyone else had any similar issues?

When the kids go to bed and/or sat/sun mornings before they get up - answer to both questions.

does this mean they pay for the course but not for your time?

BillyWhizz, yes, thats how it was explained to me...........
b r , if the college was open for day release on sat/sun mornings then that could work, but its the full day of college i'd have to make up at some point (7.5 hours).........then tend only to open during week days.

ok - I did he same course (a few years ago now!) I did the ONC first and then the HNC. Both 2 years day release. 3 years we did 1 long day, 1 year we did a day and a seperate evening which was harder. The 2nd year of HNC included complex maths which I found tough.

I had to make up my 8.5 hour day every week. I did an hours over time each of the four mornings that I didn't have college, an hour on the 2 evenings that there was no evening classes and then made up the balance on friday afternoons (We finished at 1). Then I started doing actual paid overtime saturdays and sundays to pay for the mortage on my first flat and at some point I squeezed in projects, assignments and studied for exams 😯

At least you'll appreciate the holidays eh? 8)

It's tough but you'll find a way, as suggested above - I did a degree part time while working full time, two evenings of classes a week plus library and other study time - got married and bought a house in Year one, Jnr was born at the end of Year two. (At which point my grades suffered a bit!)
