Been done many times I know but I have just stumbled across a really good series of mixes (by year).
The sets are mixed really well and there are some nice tunes on them.
Pick your year and enjoy:

Nodding to 1996 at the moment!
Thanks essay. I went straight to 1989. Good set so far.
Fantastic link!
Some just bring back so many memories!
Got Heavy D – You Ain’t Heard Nothing Yet playing atm.
Oh, thanks Eskay.
I am going to have to wait until I get home to raid this little treasure chest. Soundtrack for the shed tonight!
Downloaded 7 years so far....
Take it no-one managed to get to the DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist gigs then? Was a great night showcasing the history of hippy hop
Awesome, thanks for the link, very much my era, had a lot of those early 80s tunes on 12" and the UBB albums. My first gig was grandmaster melle Mel, sadly couldn't make the dj shadow renegades gig, nice idea Bambaataa is a legend.
Ahhh, ive not seen Scratch for years....Might have to dig it out tonight and refresh. Mix master mike talking about summoning aliens by his scratching...classic!

Yep - in Manchester.
More a showcase of the samples and breaks used in hip-hop but yes - an amazing night out.
i went to the manchester one, it was like a through the keyhole timelapse of influential music
Big Daddy Kane – Warm it Up Kane.
Yes!
I was at Manchester Renegades of Rhythm tour too. A phenomenal night. Hearing the break and beats come out and knowing that this was probably the vinyl the samples we've been listening too for 35 years originally came from. Looking forward to checking out the link.
Mac Dre - RIP ...
Is there any way of downloading these? Would be nice to listen to in the car.
Try this link, should be a download link after each one.

The most surprising, in the best possible sense, hip-hop documentary I have seen is BBC's Beat This - A History of Hip Hop. Made in 1984, given the subject matter and the time it was made it is incredible.
Quite on of the best documentaries I have seen full stop.
Its kicking about on YouTube I think.

Perfect, works a treat, thanks.
Downloaded every year last night.
4gbs of goodness.
loved most of what i've heard so for.
1993 might be top sp far. 93 till infinity: top tune.
I love these hip hop threads, not only because hip hop totally kicks ass, but also because there's no arguing and whatnot, everyone just appreciates the good things in life.
That's what real hip hop is all about yo.
I need to give the latter years a go. I have kind of fallen out of love with American hip hop over the last few years (not the old stuff though).
I feel more of a connection with the UK stuff nowadays (delegates, taskforce, skuff, fliptrix, mouse outfit, jam baxter, manage and caxton press etc etc).
It seems a lot less Hollywood and like where U.S. rap was probably 20 years ago (in terms of content).
93 till infinity: top tune.
One of the best records ever made.
Qualla !
Earlier today I heard Arrested Development do Mr Wendal live on Radio 4.
Proper gangsta, me 🙂

Just seen a link to this pop-up, had a listen and it is pretty good.
From allhiphop: "In light of his recent success, Westside furthers his rise with the final installment of his mixtape trilogy “Hitler Wears Hermes 3”. Packed with raw loops, grimy lyricism, and back block narratives, the Buffalo NY emcee serves up a modern day cult classic with features from Sean Price, Skyzoo, Du Rag Dynasty, Vast Aire (of Cannibal OX), frequent collaborator and fellow GXFR Conway (recently heard on their buzz single “They Killed Pookie”, produced by V Don) and more. #HWH3 restores the essence of 1998 New York all over again, just in time for today’s climate."

Thanks OP - Thats my afternoon and tomorrow and next weeks music sorted 8)
Finally starting to go through the mixes on the original post. Great link OP. First up for me - 1988.
Chris Read's Classic Material mixes take the same year-by-year approach and are also well worth checking out. I like the way he pairs familiar acapellas with different beats.

Well with Mr A's new link as well, that's my listening sorted for about the next 100 years 😀
Thanks Mr A, I'll check those out!
