Let's see if I can explain what I'm looking for.
I need a hinge as I'm trying to build a sleeping unit for my truck
Essentially it's a three way fold out unit like this.

It's the centre piece that's fixed so a zigzag style won't work. I need one side to fold in, which is easy enough. I then need a second hinge to fold over the top, preferably without leaving an 18mm gap as I would like it to be self supporting.
It needs to fold up for storage, hence the tri-fold.

I can't help with the hinges, but is that a truck, as in lorry, or a pickup?

If that parliament hinge opens a full 180 degrees, it might work. Cheers.
EDIT: The third piece will still need to be able to fold over the two pieces, but it still looks more robust than a piano hinge.
EDIT 2:

Something like this but with greater distance between the brass bits.

You could use Soss hinges or similar. Does the thing you're building need to fold overlayed? It could fold in a Z fashion...

Although I've not come across one, what you are looking for is a butt and parliament hinge, with the parliament bit being 18mm to accommodate your overplayed board. Sorry I cant be of anymore help, but hopefully you'll have some term with which to google.

Will the hinge form a structural part of the bed in supporting the flap when folded out? If not then it will be simple to join the 2 flaps at the edge with straps which are screwed on some distance back from the edge. Obviously the length of the strap is critical and will need some thinking about

Something like this .... (apologies for very technical drawing 🙂 )

I think I've found it (double hinge).

That sort of thing would work too Welshfarmer.

And it's a truck, not a pick up

That's a ruddy hatchback, albeit quite a pretty colour...
