Looking for a cheapish USB DAC.

Budget is about 100, I have a CA DAC Magic on my main system (Roksan pre and power amps) and I am very happy with it.

I want something for my "90's classic@ Arcam Alpha system in the spare room but don't want to spend hundreds.

Anyone know anything about these Topping DAC on Ebay?

My friend has one of these with the external power supply and rates it very highly.

Can't remember what he did for a case for it but its red!

Cheers

I use one of these between the laptop and the Cyrus.

Might be out of price range but very simple and very nice. Only really does one thing (converts digital streams to analogue audio whatever stream its given) but does it well.

USB powered so you just have a USB cable in one end and a pair of auditors out the other.

Edit: it might be the slightly updated version I have. Still nice.

What about an E-dac (also known as an O-Dac)?

It's good value - I use one in my headphone setup at work.

I'm selling my Arcam rDAC if you're interested, outside your budget though...

I've got the Maplin DAC, £36 and it sounds amazing!

I've got one of these Muse DAC
which is no longer required as I returned the virgin media unit I got it for. Sell for £10 if you want a cheap stop gap, I've never had any issues with it, it did the job just fine for me.

The Epiphany units are very highly rated. My father uses their Headphone amp.
