I've got this space which had some horrible chipboard shelves in it and I'd like to make it nice...Can anyone picture something fancy and share? All I can think is to line it in the shape it's in already, put a bead round the front and paint it all then put in a nice big plant to fill the space.
But I can't help thinking a bit of smart joinery could make it look much better.

Is that a cupboard next too it? Why not remove that door and combine both spaces?
If you need cupboard space you could make the lower 1/3 in to a cupboard
Would you do another couple of shots showing a wider angle. It's easier to redesign something when its context is better understood.
Channel line it, nice farrow and ball colour on em, shelf it and get aw yer books in there. Nice feature.

i would obviously do the bead and plaster as you say.possibly if it was handy to do is get a spot or led strip in and just make it a feature for art or a plant. if your stuck for storage you could shelf it out for shoes/coats. as said above combine the two spaces from the other cupboard and use some nice light wood as shelving
