Take it to the tip and then buy a proper vacuum cleaner that works.

If it's a Dyson, take it apart (it all comes apart), wash all the plastic bits, dry them thoroughly and then put it back together.

If it's a Hoover don't do that.

If you phone the Dyson helpline the very helpful ladies will talk you through the cleaning procedure, put on loudspeaker and job done.

You can't Hoover with a Dyson. You can vacuum though.

I had to put the shower head down the hose of our dyson after SOMEONE sucked up plaster dust with it. After I cleaned it all out and washed the filters it goes like a mental thing again. Especially washing the thin filter that lives under the bottom of the bin (upright) replace once dry and try to keep flat.
