I've got some beer brewing & it needs a name.

It's an Australian Pale Ale from a kit, with extra hops added three ways. Cascade hops boiled, steeped & dry-hopped

I thought of something like "hopping mad" or "hopping hare" but they've already been taken; "triple hopped cascade pale ale" is a little, er, dull

ok, the winner of this challenge gets a free bottle next time they're in Shipley, West Yorks

I think Hop & Glory has been done, but I like Hop Hop & Away too

Top contenders so far: Brakes with Hop Hop Hop Hooray & DD's Hop Hop & Away.

The winner will be announced at 10pm, and the offer of a bottle (or two) is genuine if you happen to be anywhere near me.

Thanks folks

Drummers-BSD (Boiled, Steeped & Dry)

That way you can develop the Drummers brand into differing brews! 😀

Konastoner, I like the way you're thinking 🙂

I'm going to be switching to all-grain brews in the new year, with the possible intention of going commercial with them, so a unique brand is a fantastic idea

Drummers Parodiddle...?

not really giving the Hops a mention though.

Bunny Hop - possibly. I was thinking also along the lines of hip hop, or hippety hop, so it's in the right ballpark 🙂

Drumming Hop A Storm
(think that's trying too hard)

The Drummers BSD idea's got legs. Needs work.

This one could be Drummers Hop Hop 'n' Away.

don't you like hops dj?

anyway, a huge thanks to all that have helped me name my brew.

And the winner is....

drum roll

DeadlyDarcy's "Hop Hop & Away"

But Konastoner deserves a special mention for helping me come up with...

The Drumhead Brewery

a bottle of The Drumhead Brewery's Hop Hop & Away will be set aside for both of the winners. Many thanks! You can collect the next time you're in the neighbourhood 🙂

now to work on the design for the label...

an update folks:

Hop Hop & Away was bottled on Wednesday 30th November. I'm just printing the labels now, they look like this:

a little lacking in imagination perhaps, but for me it's not a bad attempt

Don't know if it's just me, or whether it matters at all, but cartoony-style labels steer me away from a bottle of beer.

Make it look/seem too homebrew-ish/amateur-ish.

Also, think I've been unlucky in that the couple that I have tried over the years haven't been very nice.

But maybe that's what it is. Unless you're looking to shift thousands of units through the supermarket I guess it doesn't matter what one random person on the internet likes. Good luck with it!

well I've tried some of the more traditional labels and TBH they're all a bit dull. http://start.beerlabelbuilder.com/?page=catalogue;CorporateID=E911DBE4-B233-4AEA-BCE4-EFBD0F424FD2

Yes it's purely for my own consumption, although DD & Konastoner have a bottle each reserved if they're ever up Leeds way

if/when I go to the all-grain method, in quantities larger than I can drink, then I'll think about selling some, subject to the relevant licencing, and I'll get some proper labels commissioned, but this'll do for me

mrs DD is a graphic designer whenever you need prawper labels jd. Hope you're enjoying the beer. It's unlikely I'll be up in Yorkshire anytime soon so I will just imagine how good it tastes. A proud moment for me though. 🙂

yes indeed. that's one up there ^. still a little hazy but it's only been in the bottle a couple of weeks, now in the conditioning room (shed)

hoppy but not too bitter, nice citrussy flavour and a hint of elderflower on the nose. Very quaffable. If you ever get to try Wharfebank Brewery's Tether Blonde, it's very close to that. Or maybe Badger Golden Glory (the one without the peaches)
