i seem to remember that excel has a spearman's function anyway...
check the statistical functions

Don't think Excel has a Spearman function but it does have a Pearson correlation function.
For example, if you have two variables each with 10 values, one in cells A1 to A10 the other in B1 to B10 you'd use:
=PEARSON(A1:A10,B1:B10)
to get the Pearson correlation coeffiecient.
To get the Spearman rank correlation coefficient, use the same formula but instand of plugging in the values of the variables replace them with their ranks.
