Have looked at a couple of heated pet beds on line. Its hard to tell if they are any good or what temperature they heat to / how long they can be left running.

Any experience? Recommend any brands?

A friend of mine has one of those beds you hang on the radiator, for a cheaper alternative !

IME Cats will sleep wherever they please, mine likes a nice high location near the window thats close to my bed, so she can keep an eye both her territory and her slave, be instantly on top of any suspected approaches to her food dish.

I have to house a pet out of doors in a shed. I dont want it to be cold and I dont want to heat the whole shed as I cant afford it. Would you want to sit in an unheated shed through last winter? It will have free access to the outdoors but its even colder out there!

I know they do heated pet beds for cattery and kennel facilities - so they must be in fairly common use.

spend the money on properly insulating the shed? then just chuck in a load of straw.

Mys sis-in-law has 4 farm cats and they live outdoors and in open barns all year round, they never see the inside of the house. A cat will be fine.

Dog - depends on the breed. If its a proper working dog/hardy breed then that will be fine in a kennel with some decent bedding.

Buying any kind of bed for a cat is a waste of money IMO.
