can anyone help?
sort version, my mum suffers from severe athritis and needs an knee replacement. she also has osteoporosis.
her work are shit, no health pay. she had time off, they could of and agreed to furlough her but changed it to SSP with out telling her. this has resulted in me paying her rent this month and bills, whilst I can do this short term it causes issues at home and is not a long term solution
she has no savings and lives paycheck to paycheck in a rented flat with a stupid high rent, reason she pays it is its location to my gran and other family members.
anyone got any help or guidance on how to get in the queue for social housing and what agencies can help.
she's only 60 but my 90yo gran has better mobility.
its stressing me right out.
she always thought she would be retired but the missed the cut off date and now has another 7years at least to work as our country has errored and ruined any social care capability we had
Local council - will be able to make an application via them. If they don’t have much of their own stock they’ll probably be an option for the application to include third sector and housing association providers.
I lost my parents over the last few years, Mum had dementia so I had a bit of dealings with authorities. Age UK were really helpful and we were linked to a few social workers a couple of those were really helpful. I hope your Mum’s situation improves....
Check your local council website, depending on where you are it might be a borough council or unitary that deals with housing. You should have plenty of info about the housing register and eligibility. Otherwise call customer services tomorrow morning and they should be able to point you in the right direction.
Advice shop for a benefits check - she might well be entitled to some (CAB ? law centre or whatever the local one is called)
