MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
Afternoon STW.
After having a couple of weeks of work, it has got my mind wondering onto new projects.. One of these that keeps coming to mind is a home-made DIY turntable.
I am needing a new one anyway, cost isn't really an issue, so this isn't a money saving exercise, but I just like having something to work on!
Following various internet browsing, I have come across some interesting forums and websites, like the following -

Just wondering if anybody has any real life experience of trying this, and do you have anything that might convince me to just buy one!?
Thanks
J
No but would love to try so post a build a thread if you decide to go ahead...
not from scratch like that, but i do have a lenco 75 that i bought for a few pence, literally, that needs a new plinth and i quite like the look of the birch ones so i'm probably going to make one like that quite soon especially as a pre-made one is silly money. wish my profit margins on the wood stuff i make were that good!

That in kit form would sell like hotcakes.
Depends if you really want to start from scratch , do you have an arm you could use ?
A home re-plinth of a Rega with your own upgrades/mods is very accessible ,
a bearing/sub platter is only £20 to start off .
There is a lot of info out there Rega is the easiest to get bits for.
I have mongrel Planar 2/3 RB250 by buying parts only - need to be quick on ebay to get good deals - and know the arm variants - NAD etc.
Then http://www.audiomods.co.uk/ for some DIY arm heaven .

Thanks for the replies, it's not out me off to much! And I will certainly do a build it thread if anything happens.
I've got this vision in my head of a clear acrilic base that you can see the wires/circuitry through, then 3D printed components, but I'm probably getting ahead of myself!
Some really good links to look at above, I think I will start by buying a super cheap one, and see what's going on inside. I think my biggest issue will be controlling the motor to the correct RPM, but it's giving me some reading material.

That kickstarter looks amazing! But it's not floating my boat quite enough..
