makes you good at doing a movement unlike any other and not great that for developing cardio fitness

better to use dumbell etc if you want upper body fitness, or swim various strokes.

I had to google that. I imagine it might be quite useful if you're a hand cyclist (though you'd want to put both the cranks in sync rather than 180 degrees out), but not really otherwise. Go on a rowing ergo (or a kayaking ergo if you can get hold of one) if you want an upper body aerobic workout - far better muscle utilisation.

The rowing ergo wouldn't be great for upper body, though would be good for cardio for sure.

Kayaking ergo? 😯

Edit: Not that I disbelieve you. Didn't realise something like that would exist.

Kayaking ergo?

I've got one sitting next to my turbo - would take a pic, but it's a bit messy in there, so here's a pic of somebody who's a far better paddler than me on one:

Why on earth wouldn't paddlers have something for training inside on?

As to the rowing ergo, of course it gives a good upper body workout. You might drive from your legs, but you finish off with your upper body - given how I can feel my upper body muscles after a session, I'd imagine it ought to be a really good upper body workout for most cyclists with scrawny arms, provided they use good technique.

If you can feel your upper body that much, then you should probably work on your technique. 😛

That kayaking thing looks pretty cool though.
