Any reccomendations?

I've come to the conclusion that for the next 2 years it would be better for me to cut my own hair than to risk the Ethiopian barbers!

Rechargable preferably, and easy to use. Don't want the grade 1/2 effect, preferably the grade 4/5...

Cheers chaps!

P

dont bother with re-chargables, they're all shit! £20 set of WAHLs will last you years.

Rechargeable a necessity due to poor ethiopian power supply I'm afraid...

The rechargeable batteries they put in hair clippers are useless, I would rather trust the local barber than have my hair plucked out by an underpowered clipper.

If there is no mains power I'd use a battery operated(conventional AA batteries) trimmer like a wahl groomsman.

I have a remington set. Cost about £40 but the set icludes loads of stuff you dont really need.

The battery lasts 45mins on one charge and has lasted me 4 cuts per charge

I got some with a celebrity hairdresser's name on the side from Asda because they were cheap. Chargable or off the mains.

Make sure the ones you get will run directly from the mains. My beard clipper stops charging when it's switched on, making last minute trims a bit of a gamble.

I have a remington set

Me too, and I have no problems with using them on the rechargable batteries. Trick is to oil them and keep them clean and they'll last for years.

Peachos- Its hard to find a barber who knows how to cut ferenji (caucasian) hair.

The horror stories from those who have tried have put me off- though I am going to try it out once...

Have Remmingtons improved the guides? I used to have one but found the guides got worn and started falling off in use resulting in the occassional bald spot. I replaced with a Nicky Clarke one which has better guides but the clippers don't move so fast now I have it a few years so don't recommend them either.

If you want a good set of rechargeables look at wahls professional range they will cost you around £50+ and are very sharp but the batteries are good and they are more than up to the job.

if not then wahl super taper are the ticket.

I have a cheap Remmington rechargeable that has been used every 2 weeks for the last 4 years. Don't believe everything you read on the interweb.

Argos is your friend.

Well- no need to buy hair clippers as I have found a great barber here in Awassa. Haircut, with head massage, and thorough clean of my ears (?) 20 Birrr. Or a quid in old money... And all done with hair clippers- no scissors in sight.

Some barbers obviously can cut "Ferengi" hair. I take it all back.

Cheers for all the ideas though guys!

My remmington cordless is fine too, better than the corded one I had before, in fact. And you can use it plugged in too, if the battery dies midcut.

Mine were £25 from Boots. Braun clippers. And they will do upto about an inch in length on the longest setting, right down to a few mm.

Good for pubes too.

Go to Sallys the shop for hairdressers for some good wahls not their cheap ones that you can get from argos, tell them that your mrs or mr depending with what foot you kick with works in a so called hairdressers, you'll then get trade price, the last numbers on the pricing bar code is always the trade price, I remember this as my ex wife owned a salon an I always used to go and pick up the shit she'd forgot to order. hope this helps.
