Greatest fight?

Nah, for me it's gotta be the first two Micky Ward vs Arturo Gatti fights.

Defenitely two of the greatest warriors and champions ever though.

Gawd yeah! Hagler was one tough mother. Fantastic fighters from the best era in boxing history.

Leonard won, Pigface 🙂

Castillo Corales 1 and Barrera Morales 1 deserve mentions

Sugar Ray Leonard is my hero and it is utterly inconceivable he lost!

The greatest first round in boxing history no question..... absolutely breathtaking.
It was billed as 'The Fight'.... its still called that by those in boxing.

+1

When did boxing become synonymous with running away from the champ?

H V H was amazing.

Still shocking to remember what hacker did to my hero Minter. Ripped his face to shreds....

It's about hitting and not being hit. I watched it live at the cinema in Leicester Square and Leonard won by outboxing Hagler.

Can't believe we're still discussing this!

What about Meldrick Taylor - should he have been stopped against Chavez? 😆

ps. Anyone wants the Gatti-Ward trilogy on DVD - I can do that for a few pennies 🙂 (or the Hagler fights for that matter)

It's about hitting and not being hit.

Its really about making the other person incapable of fighting on due to injury or knockout as a result of you pummeling them. I doubt even you wish to argue that he achieved this.

Of course there is skill in running away, and no one did it better, but it requires the rules of boxing for him to have won

Hence why today it still divides opinion between those who admire boxing and those who admire fighters.

He was the later but he could never win a fight against Hagler only a boxing match.
