Reasonably cheap for a weekend in Jan, but with a communal dining meeting room of some sort.

where in the lakes? what will you be doing?
Most B&B's will have a communal living room / breakfast room.

This looks good, near Grizedale - never stayed there though.

Dinah Hoggus camping barn is very basic and will be cold in January, but has a great location right at the bottom of the best descent on the Borrowdale Bash.
