Thinking of riding Grizedale this week and was wondering if the Grizedale & Esthwaite route from the Vertibrate book is still worth doing (route below). Are there any changes to make it better. Looking at a 30km, 1000m ish route on a normal non-ebike.
Thanks

This is my standard loop at grizedale. Climb up the north face, out to parkamoor, back into grizedale via the bridleways, over bresty haw, esthwaite and Claife heights. Only problem is here, the bridleway down to hawkshead is knackered so not sure if there's an alternative? Coffee and cake in, then back into grizedale via BW from hawkshead. Then you can pick up the final section of the NF and also seek out the black run and the new flow trails they've put in. Bongo.

Alternatives below, without leaving the forest much. The descent to Hawkshead and climb back up can be missed by not turning right at 'the Fox' and going along BW/forest road to Moor Top. The SE loop on the route you posted isn't as good as it used to be.
Thanks Guys.
I rode the loop I linked today - the BWs on the west side towards Coniston have been quite badly eroded by Storm Amy. Big loose rocks and deep ruts to be aware of. Still good to ride.

Don't forget a couple of loops of the new flow trails, they're pretty good fun, if a bit short
The trail head is just SW of moor top

Fingers crossed that the restorative cycle has now started on Parkamoor - Nibthwaite.
