MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
what say you 😀 (just listening to iron maiden for the first time in years).
Hallowed Be Thy Name.
Not just my option you understand, it's a matter of fact.
Run to the Hills
For many obvious reasons
Another vote for Run to the Hills
Losfer Words made me smile big-time over the last weekend...
The Trooper.
i do like the start of can i play with madness the way they break in but run to the hills is my favorite.
Even better on their live at donnington album for lack of anything better than an MP3 of their studio copy.
infact that albums probably more hated by my neighbours than the sound of my 2 stroke mower 😀
Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
Uh, unless you're 15 and hormonally angry you have no business with the Maiden. 😉
Hallowed be thy Name....but go real old school (pre Bruce Dickinson) and listen to Murders on the Rue Morgue.
Wasted years or infinite dreams
Uh, unless you're 15 and hormonally angry you have no business with the Maiden.
i am 15 (just in a 39 year old's body 😉
Ahh... then you'll probably like The Cure, too!
Hallowed be thy name, rime if the ancient mariner and aces high
This is so cool. 😆 Watching some of these I remember that none of my teachers understood me.
With the added bonus of no Dickinson.
Hallowed be thy name, aces high, rime of the ancient mariner.
Another vote for Revelations here...
Another vote here for Hallowed Be Thy Name closely followed by Fear Of The Dark
Run to the Hills, Powerslave, 2 Minutes to midnight
edit - oh and number of the beast
I'm with mud shark but also like 'can I play with madness'
I'm 33 and hormonally angry, does that count?
And yes, it is Hallowed be thy Name...
Although Aces High the live version Fear of the Dark on Live After Death push it damn close.
During my bike shop days I had a guy come in an old Maiden tour shirt, got talking to him, turned out he was Steve Harris's touring Bass tech for 15 years, his resume was a who's who of 80's and 90's rock but he still said they were the 2nd nicest guys he'd ever worked for.
The nicest? - Ronnie James Dio, a true gentleman in every way if this chap was to be believed.
The biggest knobber? - Jon Bon Jovi, a flaming diva and almost universally despised by the entire crew.
Take from that what you will.
Some nice choices there but most, nay ALL of of you need to have a sit down in a quiet corner and a good think about what you just did. There's only one choice, really
Woe to you
O Earth And Sea
For the devil sends the beast with wrath
Because he knows the time is shortLet him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast
for it is a human number
it's number is six hundred and sixty six
i always like watching dave murray playing guitar.he always looks cool 8)
Powerslave or The Evil That Men Do.
Hallowed be thy name is right up there but....
It's not the fear of whats beyond,
It's just that I might not respond.
You tell me your an unbeliever, spiritualist,
well me I'm neither.
However with the exception of the last two albums,I struggle to find a Maiden album I don't love 4/5 songs from. Tonight's drive home will be accompanied by the first album
The Prisoner, love the guitar solo where Dave Murray and Adrian Smith swap over half way through.
No love for Afraid To Shoot Strangers? Brilliant track.
Prowler,
Bring your Daughter to the slaughter
Fear of the dark
Can I play with madness
+1 for rime of the ancient mariner.
Saw them live in 89/90 forking brilliant.
IIRC, it was hearing Powerslave that convinced Bruce - while supporting Maiden - to jump into the band once the chance was there.
Anyway, here's an alternative; Wrathchild instrumental by Buckethead...
Fear of the Dark (Live in Rio version please)
2 Minutes to Midnight
The Trooper
in that order
All of them 🙂
All their albums contain a gem or two at the very least imo.
Rather than pick one, I'll pick one per studio album - done from memory so bear with me if I've got one wrong
Phantom
Killers
Hallowed
Where Eagles Dare
ROTAM
Wasted Years
Infinite Dreams
NPFTD
Afraid to shoot strangers
Lord of Flies
Angel and Gambler
Ghost of the Navigator
DoD
Lord of Light
When the Wild Wind Blows
im afraid they peaked with the first album and paul di'anno. f00kin great album and was one of the only 'non-punk' albums (along with motorhead) i liked as spiky young credit to society.
phantom of the opera is the correct answer.
Fear of the Dark (Live in Rio version please)
This is the correct answer. And must be the live version. That is important.
Anything on Powerslave
Far too many to choose from but for me aces high and loneliness of a long distance runner
Unbelievable. 41 posts in and nobody's got it right yet:
Phantom of the Opera
Live at the Rainbow - 1980
^^^^^^^^^^ 🙄
Only mentioned several times including video clip.
Only read post 40 then?
Haha! pwned!!
Next time I'll pay more attention!
Yep 😆Haha! pwned!!
Man on the edge.
Blaze ftw.
The Trooper, 2 minutes to midnight. Going to see them in July!
Hallowed Be Thy Name, and Fear of the Dark (live in Rio).
As for newer songs, really quite like Coming Home after hearing it live for the first time in Newcastle a couple of years back
IIRC, it was hearing Powerslave that convinced Bruce - while supporting Maiden - to jump into the band once the chance was there.
Erm, no it wasn't: Bruce recorded Powerslave with Maiden, and also Piece of Mind before that and Number of the Beast before that.
All great suggestions. May I throw a modern contender into the pot?
A classic:
I also agree with Phantom of the Opera, sung by Bruce, of course.
