Interesting site, I think the 'wildlife' axe would maybe be more useful at just over a foot, for trail maintenance.

IME, an axe is quite alot less useful than a good folding saw for trail clearance. They are useful for certain things though.

I have one of these:

http://www.fiskars.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10101&productId=10532&page=products

It functions perfectly well as an axe for things up to about three inches (although a saw is quicker, cleaner and easier), but it really excels cutting through bramble and similar overgrowth.

I have something very similar Scienceofficer - made by Sthil the chainsaw people, it's called a 'bill hook axe'. I find it a little difficult to carry and ride. A small axe may or may not be any better, but it's a nice item to own/use.

Let me know tang, email in profile - perhaps they would offer a discount percentage, and we choose our own axe - can't imagine they would have loads of one type anyway? Just a thought.

I'd like one, is it ok to keep it in a suitcase under the bed?
