hmmm... left me a bit cold. I suspect that nobody has ever said "No" to Barry(?).
... and hanging the 916 in the games room would have been a better idea.
it was a vile house to be fair - if it had cost that much money and nearly my life i would have got my sofas from soemwhere other than a student flat or squat!
I thought he'd blown so much on the house that he'd collect all the dumped mattresses from the fly-tips and put them in the lounge and what a waste of a Ducati!!
The wife obviously hated it but Barry was the man in charge all right. He must have a few contacts on the council to get a place like that built in that area.
It was a truely ugly house. I know some of the properties in the area are more 'Posh & Becks' than Lutyens or Robert Adams but it looked like a Brighton & Hove City Council building.
His hair colour changed in very shot.
I liked the sofa = :7)
Appalling house - I get the feeling he designed much of it.
I got the feeling his wife was less than happy about it all.
Classic case of 'ooooh, look how much cash I have.'
Piece of Pi$h.
I did cough at the difference in price between flat and curved glass.
Couldn't help feeling a bit sorry for him at the end, KM had it bang on at the start when he talked about a rich man's folly (was that bit done later maybe?). They had the look of people who'd woken from a dream/nightmare at the end of it, they had everything (and more) before they decided to build and I guess from the (lack of) furnishing and the rather truncated house visit don't have much (cash) left now. The house would have been much nicer had they made it 2/3rds the size.
Personally prefer the green/sustainable/self build projects to the "rich folks spend large" ones.

Agreed - but I lost no sleep over the matter.
Pretty dumb to blow £1.6M building a concrete edifice, and still leave behind an unfinished house which I'm sure his family wouldn't live in anyway after he dies, (which might be soon the way he's looking). It was so damn big, and the concept of "sustainability" was clearly unheard of.
All rather sad really, more so for his family who will doubtless have to pick up the pieces.
Did not take to the guy at the start but as he hit the various troubles you could see his thinking change and I actually started to feel for him. In particular his comments on what was truly valuable, not so sure he was remembering that at the end. Hips done not so bad but all the other stuff, not nice. Supose once you have started on such a big money pit the only way back is to get it finished. Reckon that they'll never live there. House was ott for me and really poor, glad that Kevin managed to contain his view (amazement?), one day he'll smirk like that and it will be removed by a breeze block.
We really didn't like the house. The design was pretty non-existent in my opinion. Nothing appealed to me other than the view.
I preferred the wood one the chap built last week/a couple of weeks ago. Much more a Grand Design
For some reason it didn't tape last night so I missed it 🙁
watching it on channel 4 on demand now
For some reason it didn't tape last night so I missed it
if you're watching the repeats it's an enormous concrete+glass box with a what looks like a huge telly on the top.
"sustainability"
ha aha ha ahahahahahhahaa, sustainable? what, the construction industry?
try again.
