The above was liked on FB by a GoPro staff member so seems legit.

In the news:

http://singletrackworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/gopro-introduces-hero4-pro-levels-of-capture-for-everyone/

Looks like they've copied the SJ4000 for the screen 😈

Actually it just look like a good bit of kit. Some nice enhancements. Can't justify the expense though.

I know, they'll never catch on without a screen! On, wait... 😉

Not sure how touchscreen will work with the case on. Or how useful a screen is for aligning shots when it's on your lid/chest/remote mount compared to WiFi and the smart phone app. Looks like the black doesn't have the screen, which interesting. £99 version looks great too, great entry level or ideal for a 2nd angle for existing owners.

All about the marketing.... the actual device is shite in comparison to the others on the market!
But get Redbull et al on side with hundreds of freebies and you capture the market......

Yep. That's why all the tv companies use them for their action shots....... 🙄

That screen's only on the silver, not the Black. Black now looks like it's really targeted at the pro market.

Go talk to the guys at Dogcam and see what they ACTUALLY provide to the military/tv companies 😉
I've seen firsthand just how many gopro's are used on a tv shoot "just in case" one doesn't work....
Batteries dying, the shot being wrong, auto-exposure going wrong, etc.
Just do a search on here for when they released the + version that was worse than the one before!

Telling me that the military use something different means nothing - they get sold some utter pump across all areas of procurement.

Yet the only action cam I've ever seen on TV is the gopro. Gadget show and Top Gear spring to mind. Why don't they use this amazing alternative? Drawn in by the marketing??

The issues must be overshadowed by the quality of the footage.

God this ****ing equipment arms race is killing freelance camera guys at the moment. Something new every week.

Never seen a dogcam in the industry (whatever that is). We use go pros and tonnes of them.

Dogcam are the largest single seller of them and other specialist cameras in the UK.
GoPro did well by literally throwing free cameras at everyone for a long time whilst letting the public pay for it all - hence the wide adoption of them. Nothing more than that.
The shear amount of mounts, chargers, batteries, etc out there now means people stick with what they know rather than a viable/better alternative because of the cost to switch.

I quite like the look of the £99 Hero as I have a feeing using a cam may be a bit of a fad but I really fancy trying one.

Hoping the Hero comes up to order on CRC before the 15% off orders over £99 expires!

Rude not to at £85

Do you need a mega powerful laptop to do anything with the footage?

A big part of it is that Gopro got in first with a decent product- I had an original Gopro and there was nothing else in the DIY market worth owning. Vholdr/Contour were still embarassing themselves with their customer disservice, you could go with separate bullet cams and recorders but that was too faffy for most people and near-useless for mtb (I had a nice kit for motorbike use but I'd have never used it on a pushbike, wires for miles and batteries everywhere) It says a lot that people would actually buy utter shit like the ATC2K and the like.

Anybody know if any of the new hero 4 models will come with the remote included?
Was included with the hero 3+ black last time.

Always fancied a cam but would prefer something like some Police services use, the little headcam mounted one that goes by your ear. Having said that, $130 for the cheapy one might be worth a punt.

Be interesting to see how the £99 shapes up, that will just about kill off the cheap competitors.

I think the main question is, when will shops start reducing prices on the 3+ . Was about to order one but going to wait now. Don't need a 4, esp not at full RRP.
