[Closed] Googlemail blocked at work - will I get it on a Blackberry ?

If you are connected to the work wifi network it will be blocked.
If you are using cellular data it won't.

Oggles - I think I understand - so as long as I am using it in an 'out of office' mode, like if I was out and about, it should be fine ?

Very much depends on how your work IT systems are set up. My work blocks certain websites between 9-5 during week days on our PCs. Same goes for my Blackberry so I can't get on the gmail website.

Also tried downloading the Gmail app which didn't seem to work so I assume they have somehow blocked that too.

All seems like black magic to me as it doesn't work in or out of the office.

Why not phone your IT department and just ask them. Worst case is they tell you no.

Sites blocked through server at work are also blocked on my BB, however, can get Facebook through the app.

RichJJ - the weird thing I found was that while GMail is blocked on work pc's Facebook isn't !!

That might be to stop you sending confidential company docs via email, to comply with the companys IT security policy.

Hotmail, Yahoo, GMail, etc might all be blocked.

Also prevents you from bringing non - checked potential viruses into the system.

Check to see if the secure version works. I've worked in plenty of places that only block by looking at the http headers, which they can't do if you use https://mail.google.com/.

Also make sure you have select the always use secure connection option in your settings.

Man Just use some proxy .. and I unblock them using proxies.. just find some at google or find some at http://proxy-zone.net
