She's being honoured for her fashion work, which is actually really rather good.
It really isn't. It's a branding exercise with some (not very well paid) junior designers doing all the work and her coming in a whirlwind in messing it up then the real (i.e. qualified, experienced and talented) designers putting it back together again once she has left the building.
It's a play thing and she is a mouthpiece/ marketing opportunity for others.
Not my view but the view of someone who worked there.
I think some people might be taking the award system a bit too seriously.
Ultimately it is a politician who decides who is awarded what, and that decision is heavily coloured by their own personal agendas.
Remember that brutal Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceau?escu was awarded a knighthood by the Queen, as was Robert Mugabe. Even the founder of facism, Benito Mussolini, was awarded a knighthood.

Victoria Beckham. When shopping for wedding outfits for Mrs B we where impressed with her line and trust me I was very cynical and regarded a footballer's wife's brand as a negative. She's done a good job.
If you ignore the media's self fulfilling celebrity fixation, there's several hundred people on the honours list who have got them for years of public service and community activities, for achieving things that have never been done before, for teaching and inspiring others.
It's dated, it's traditional, it may grate a bit with all the "right on" crowd, but there's far worse shit going on to worry about than this.
