Anyone done the the Great North Run today?

Did it in 2.07 with no training so pretty pleased with myself...

The knee is suffering though..

I did it in 1.48 3 years ago (with training)

Whats the fastest time for anyone on here?

Recall doing it in around 87/88 minutes in 1987. Best ever time for distance was 82.09 so was a bit disappointed in myself on the day.

Second GNR (2nd half marathon) - beat my time by 5 minutes so chuffed. Not going to tell you the time though - put it this way - a few people beat me but the race was against myself!

My dad knows an 80 year old who was running it. Can't remember the time he was aiming for, but it would have put him into the first 20% of finishers!

Aye, did it in 1:41:56. If i hadnt had to spend 13 miles zigzagging around the slowpokes in front i might have made it under 1:35. Hving said that im very happy with my time considering its the first time ive done it.

Would the 80 year old be Chris Chattaway? He is 80 and was doing it (and I think he is a Sir). He was a pacemeker for Roger Bannister when he did the first 4 minute mile and a top class athlete himself in the '50's. Did not hear how he got on.

When I was running I used to finish well down the fiels but the sametimes now seem to put you higher up the standings. One of my last races finished 12-15th and a few years later went back and noted the same time would have have got me in top 5. Same when I see 10k or 10 mile times.

ALso meant to ad earlier congrats to OP, 13 miles is a long way....
