[Closed] Garage doors - security

Recently moved home, and the new place has a (fairly ancient) powered up and over door. The only way in is by pressing the remote button. Is this more secure than a manual garage door? I guess the resistance of the mechanism (big levers / springs either side) would make it more difficult to lever up.

I'm thinking of replacing it anyway, as parking space in front is tight and it has a huge swing out - already managed to clout the car twice doh! Ideally a roller type door, so the other question is how are these for security? I guess not too bad due to edge tracks making levering out difficult. Anyone any experience with these? Any pitfalls?

If you're buying a roller door, you want one with good sealing around the edges and larger and thicker lats - this will help with both insulation and security. I bought a cheap one and whilst it's okay, I wouldn't do it again.

My personal choice would be a Sectional garage door, probably a side section which hides behind a false wall when opened. Sectional doors can be 40-60mm thick and are very secure having the benefits of both the roller and the up and over.

Your current door - I fixed brackets at the bottom each side and padlocked the door to the side frames. Usually only used this when going away.
Replaced that with a Hormann sectional door and they are brilliant, As Daffy says it fits behind the pillars and already has brackets fitted if I want extra security. Best thing about it is that it has seals all the way around plus being insulated means I can work out there during the winter.
