Hello, dissertation in in a couple days here's the challenge:
the first few pages need to be numbered in Roman numerals, then numbering needs to start in numbers (at 1) on the first page of the first chapter.
can anyone help me out!? i can only get them either as roman or as numbers...
cheers
or even, how to start the numbering on the first page of chapter one?
i can just type in the roman numerals for the first few pages
Put a section break in at the start of the first chapter - numerals in the first section, numbers in the next section and thereafter. Simple?
it restarts the numbering if i do that but they are all still either numerals or numbers?
I'm going from memory here, but I thought you could change the style/layout/text of the numbering in each section individually and either make the next section follow the numbering of the previous one or start again. You may need someone with Word open to give you a walk through..... sorry
i can manage to change the actual numbering, so that it starts at 1 again but the style changes for the whole document....so annoying
thanks for the ideas, keep em comin pls
ahhhh! i see, one must de-select 'follow on from previous section'...thanks all!
