My lad is starting to get into it, so I need to get him something that will save his good looks when the inevitable happens.

I've found Apex and Savage lids for under £25. What are your budding BMXers wearing?

P.S. We went to Bruntwood Park in Cheadle today. Awesome.

Was trackside earlier today as well with the young un. As a club we have one industry full face helmets for kids. These are around £50 IIRC, fly racing do a good range of kids gear a fair bit cheaper though their designer needs to lay off the mushrooms mind. My lad has a fox V1 which is really nice but a bit more pricy.

If you want to come and ride the track at a session we can lend you the kit to make sure your lad is into it. Wednesday nights start up again this week and I'll be helping out.

Sessions are also Saturday mornings if you can make either of them, next weekend we're running an extended session to about 3, was to be part of Gatley bike fest but basically we've been going for a year and want to allow more people to try a session.

Thanks. We're a bit of a drive away so won't be able to do a club session. Queens Park and The NCC Indoor are our nearest tracks.

Were you stood on the 2nd berm? I was down near the 3rd yelling encouragement to my boy on his Carrera Blast MTB. Some of the kids there were really flying!

I was messing with a kit bag on the second berm, between 11-12, watching my son with my heart in my mouth as he's adamant that flicking the bars through 90degrees when jumping is cool...

Some of the riders we get down there are something else, inspiring my lad no end.

If you're down at any time in the future come over and chat we're a friendly bunch 🙂

Was down there with my daughter (old, slow, fat on a Haro - me not Iz) at the same time as twistedpencil . We've got an extended session this Saturday until 10am-3pm. Think we've got a few 661 helmets too, if you can get down sometime they can always try a few to see how they fit.

sorry - read twistedpencil's post properly and realised he'd already mentioned the 3pm session this Saturday

Certainly not a cheap £25 lid..! As a new rider your kid is more likely to take a tumble - would you want your head hitting that surface having sprinted down that start ramp?

Fly Racing are excellent, as are Bluegrass. My 7 year old wears an XS sized 661 adult helmet; he's a big boy for his age and the kid specific ones were a bit too snug. Go somewhere & try some on - don't skimp on a potentially life saving piere of kit.
