Anyone know of the 'real world' economy figures for these vans. Was looking into the 140ps or 180ps with DSG.
VW quote mid 30's for either but was wondering what they get day to day.
More like low 30s for the 180 but pretty darn good for a big vehicle. The 2.0 unit is very efficient and the bi-turbo 180 version is a belter of an engine. A fair bit better than the 5 cylinder units they replaced.
Surprisingly our Landy (Puma version) is the four pot unit than replaced the 5 pot td5 - I'd hardly call it thrifty but it's a lot better on juice than the td5. Just sounds a bit less impressive having a 4 cylinder rather than a 5!
I have just checked on my 4000 mile old non DSG 140ps T5.1 and I have an average of 38.9 mpg. That is mostly a mix of M25/London driving. Very pleased with it I am too.
DSG will cost you 2mpg ish if it's a 6 speed.
4 motion will rob another 2ish mpg.
That's very impressive for the non DSG 140.
I used to have a 174 and could just about squeeze 40 driving at about 60mph on a run (congested motorway).
I took a 180 dsg for a test t'other day. The salesman said it seemed a lot more thirsty than the 140 especially around town. It also didn't feel that fast compared to the 174 - alot smoother though.
