Recommendations please- will be a 6man tent and car- ideally within spitting distance of a town (Les Gets/Morzine) - or even towards Pyrennes (but too far to drive though?)

Camping La Piscine in Bourg d'Oisans. Right at the foot of Alpe D'Huez, great riding on the door step and about 1 hour drive from Grenoble. Perfect!

Le Versoyen, Bourg Saint Maurice.

Right at the foot of Les Arcs, with La Rosiere, Tignes, Pila, La Thuile, Les Saisies, La Plagne all a short drive away.

Short ride from the downhill park in Chatel and a lift away from Morzine. Much prettier than Morzine/Les Gets (imho)and generally a little quieter. Some good family friendly rides around too and the site has a pool etc for the kids. Little bit of a walk up the hill to the centre of town (10-15min)but an easy roll back down the hill after your fill of cheese and beer.

la Grange au frene in Les Gets (half-way up the Mont Chery side so a road climb if you miss last lift). Loads of facilities (drying room etc), views of Mont Blanc, woken up by cow bells.

La Grange is good but pretty small, so fills up quickly.

Plus if you miss the last lift, its a SOAB road climb
