The underline function works in preview but not when Submit. 🙁

What platform (OS / browser)?

regarding the “REPLY” buttons bottom right of a post. Those just seem to take you to the reply box, but they do it so slowly that they’re currently totally pointless

Reply is pretty broken.  I suspect it was a default 'feature' from the upgrade and hasn't yet been looked at.

Ignore it,

I'd hazard that he's been trying and has been getting a kicking for doing so in the process.

Any chance of having all the forums linked at the top of each forum page, like it used to be? Now you have to go back to the front forum page to change between forums, which is frustrating.

Is there anyway to stop the news, reviews, forum, opinion, features, magazine, shop, subscribe bar thingy from being superimposed over the words I am trying to read when scrolling down? It makes me feel nauseous. I’m on firefox on windows pc.

This is still happening for me. It goes away if I zoom out but then I can't read the text so well. It only becomes an issue on the third level of Ctrl +. Is there an easy way to make it stop?

There is no way I am going to read through the gazillions of posts above, but I am familiar with at least some of the complaints.

Whatever the case, and however much it might come across like arse-kissing, can I just say that I really like the improvements so far? I know I'm not the most critical guy around, but regardless, I think if I was visiting the site for the first time today, I would be impressed.

That is all.

Forum is now perfectly ok.

Would like the activity button back though, and move the forum more centrally - or widen the gap between it and the watermark

The transparent menu bar thing seems to be a feature of Firefox (and maybe some mobile browsers, I don't know).  It's fine on other desktop browsers.  In fact the site rendered quite differently generally on Firefox last time I looked.

I don't know if this is a database glitch or what, but currently on page 2 of the chat forum there is a thread about the cost of Intense bikes with a bike forum logo. But it's in the chat forum.

Thought it worth mentioning in case it's something that needs looking into on a wider scale (i.e if it's more of a widespread issue)

I'll take a screenshot that I can upload if required.

@stumpy01 - Thanks.  We know about this.  It's not a problem with the database, it happens when we try to move threads posted on the wrong forum - it changes the logo but doesn't actually move the thread.

Is there something wrong with this thread from 3 years ago?

It's as though the order of the posts has been jumbled up. It appears to start with a reply from Brant, and wobbliscott, before getting to the question.

https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/46mm-vs-51mm-29er-fork-offset-help-deciding/

Maybe back then Brant was so frequently monitoring the forums that he would post up the answers even before they had been asked?

Just reviewing my list,

It was reported that Classified posts didn't appear under "topics started" in Profile.  Has that been fixed, or is it still outstanding?  (I just need one "yes" or "no", not 57 people going "me too"...!)

Cheers.

Another one from a while back,

Iphone posting a response still is a bit odd ie it zooms I’m so you loose the edges of the box, text does however now wrap back inside the visible screen

Yay or nay?

I'm using the extension "Quote" link 😉

Sorry - the fix for that isn't quite ready for release into the wild yet (it will work really well when it is, but I've got a bit of fiddling to do).

edit: formatting stuff left to make the point of why it's not ready yet

On Chrome on Mac you now have a “quote” next to the username.

Doesnt work.

lack of capitalisation on new line on latest IOS on phone still there.

Also whilst there is the little arrow to jump back to top on the bottom right on IOS there is nothing on Mac/Chrome

You're not running the STW Chrome extension are you? Because I'm not aware that the site has ever had a native "quote" link there and it would be a strange place to put one given the current layout (I'd expect it to appear bottom right). The STW Chrome extension does however have such a link - a link which doesn't work with the new clever reply box in any released version (I'm currently running an alpha version which kind of works).

Also, whilst you're collating outstanding points Cougar, any chance of an update on whether we're ever going to see:

a) A return to the "threads replied to" page

b) Hovering over a thread giving the name of the last poster (so you can see if anyone has replied)

Shop!

Went to shop clothing section looking for wooly hat or beanie, was surprised to be redirected to a random ad from the classified from weeks ago. I think some placeholder text would be more appropriate.

Cheers.

Download link for extension:

https://goo.gl/6h9thV

Post with instructions:

https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/forum-update/page/29/

I note that the "quote" button isn't fixed in the version there - it's not working well enough to release it (I think I know how to make it properly, but doing real work on a Sunday today, so sorry it's not a high priority).

p.s. Instructions found by searching for download link using  https://cse.google.com/cse/publicurl?cx=002353871167780190211:ffna6g0opko - searching for that breaks the STW search!

Oh FFS - I can't even post a link to a specific page of a thread without it getting broken - let's try again:

https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/forum-update/page/29/

edit: it's at the top of page 29 - can we get the linking fixed, it's horribly broken (I see the correct link in the edit box, but it strips the "page/29/" off the end when it's posted)

Would it be possible to get links to the different forum sections on each page - maybe a drop down from the top nav bar?.
As if I've read the last thread I want in chat, I have to go back, then open the forums page and then open the bike page.
Page load times are a bit slow, so takes longer than it should

Some randoms:

1. Probably been asked several times in the 63 preceding pages, but will the classifieds return to being sorted by date of thread creation rather than date of last reply? (It's hard to keep track of at present.)

2. If it helps, on the editor quirks thing, on iOS (certainly 10, can test 11) if you type a post and then delete it, the autocorrect still thinks there's some text in the field, as does selection (which may explain why it seems impossible to select text in the page once you've typed in the box). You probably already knew.

3. Why are people complaining about the sidebar having basically the same content it's had for years? *boggle*

4. HANG IN THERE.

@Drac

What iOS and browser version Whitestone.

iOS 7.1, Safari 7 Mobile

It's an iPad 2 so quite old and I didn't upgrade past iOS7 as versions 8 and beyond are too memory and processor intensive for it. I suspect it's quite a low user base for something that's that old. I wouldn't worry about the bug unless you can replicate it on something newer.

Video threads are a rightold mess

https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/rock-bands-with-a-female-vocalist/page/5/

Some vids show, some, usually with the tag and short-link just show as text.

Be nice if that was sorted, if it ain't on da list alreddy.

(and that ^^ link post with a image added is bleedin pointless.)

(and that ^^ video of holey glove person appeared from me posting the just word video in square brackets 😆 ) (huh? Its gone now!)

Properly zoom or is it just the iOS double tap to zoom functionality? For the latter just double tap any part of a post that isn't a link or image and the browser will make the post as wide as the screen. This works with anything that HTML defines as a "block" element, so image, paragraph, etc.

Err hi, a suggestion, albeit one that may not be for everyone. I view this esteemed forum at work, there, I said it, the white, grey and black colour scheme is perfect for no-one noticing or caring what it is I'm up to. However,on the main forum page at the bottom right there is a bright coloured vid of a Orange Stage 4. This is drawing others eyes to what I'm looking at, eyes I'd rather not be drawn.

So dear STW Towers, can you just keep it plain text please? Or I may be forced to spend less time on here and more time doing what I'm paid for.

I'm not sure what Lunge is after. I see ads on the right when logged out, but when logged in the column on the right is just text and the grayed out follow us symbols; perfect for stealth at work...

Edit - I see it now; on the main Forums overview page.

Neither of those seem to be improvements - not the 'clever' "looks like its part of a post in a thread' advert, or the channelling of bullshit 'news' about a celebrity which is untrue, presumably for clickbait reasons.

Edit: Swear filter also seems to be missing, but will leave to editing of that to others if they deem it necessary, as we're all adults.

Oh, and quote function doesn't work for me (clicking on double quotation mark icon, as you would reasonably expect would be the quote functionality).

Also, the line at the bottom of the thread, i.e. "you must be logged in to post" should really be linked straight to the log in page, rather than just being standard text as currently.

Adverts should look like adverts, not as if they're part of a poster's comment, such as this from AA on the rugby thread;
