It's almost here: yesterday my new Passat B8 DSG drove me home with the cruise control set and maintained a nice safe gap between me and the car in front, my foot hovering over the brake just in case and for when I wanted to stop first in a traffic light queue. It's not perfect as it sometimes hesitates unnecessarily but it certainly drove 20 of the 21 miles with me doing nothing other than steer.
