It's so you don't need your reading glasses. Someone's trying to tell you something. 🙂

So not just me then. I just had Firefox crash on me (something to do with something in the STW ads), restarted it and it came up with the big fonts. Was going to blame Firefox, which these days seems to have become a bloated mess...

Glad its not just me. Probably STW acknowledging its readership is getting older. Ads for beige cardigans, comfy slippers and Werthers Originals to follow shortly.

Was ok when this thread first appeared but mine's got big fonts now too - presumably a style sheet or something being updated...

(Chrome FWIW)

It can't be deliberate - it's broken all sorts of layout on the site

I was in the middle of editing another post and when I posted it the font changed. Chrome also.

It's very kind of someone to produce an age-tolerant site, but I do have reading glasses thanks.

There's less space for the adverts. So there is an up side.

This is horrible, bigger reading text, same size posting box text and smaller smileys! 😕

The comment on line 22 of default.css needs to be switched to "/* */" style rather than single line comment - the way they work in CSS means it's effectively commenting out the font-size line.

Glad it's not just me (IE9). I was frantically pressing Ctrl+0 to try and resize the page!

Someone doesn't know how to comment in CSS correctly.

The issue is in default.css, line 19...

margin: 0 auto !important; //try to stop adverts removing the auto property

Should be:

margin: 0 auto !important; /* try to stop adverts removing the auto property */

My fee is in the post.

Try a forced refresh (Ctrl+F5 on a PC) and you'll see the change LG.

If it's any consolation, I know changes were made to the CSS to try to fix the errant advert reported earlier. So, it died in a good cause.

I zoomed out, but then what I was typing was so tiny I couldn't see it!
Needs addressing methinks.

CSS have a comment

I quite like it, i've zoomed out and it's like the old days of widescreen browsing before responive websites where everything was optimised for a square screen and you had 2/3rds of the screen as white space!

Nope, doesn't look right at all.

It's also screwed the homepage with text, date & views info being overlaid onto each other.

EDIT
Ah yes, that's better, thanks.

I'm in the process of switching work laptops - that was very confusing, I thought for a minute the internet had affected my eyesight!

But then I need to add a user stylesheet to increase the font-size. It's all too much...

Eh? Not sure if I'm missing your point or you're missing mine. No need for a user style sheet to increase the font size.

I always have it zoomed in a bit (high res monitor, old eyes).

In Firefox I just hold Ctrl and roll the mouse-wheel till it is a suitable size. Firefox remembers the zoom level you have set for different websites so no need for user stylesheets etc.
