Again today, been heavy on Saddleworth tops.

Looks like it will again on Friday in this case.

How bad has it actually been there, looked like a lot of water running down the roads, much damage?

We've stayed there a few times (partner grew up in the area).
Holme House B&B according to their website will be closed till after xmas. Moyles are hoping to back up and running within 3 months. But realistically its going to be 6 months they think. Guessing lots of other businesses might be saying the same.

Work colleague & his wife/kids are moving to (what's left of) Hebden Bridge sometime in the next few weeks. Bet they're really looking forward to it now.

its f%$cked, and will take months to sort, i went to cockermouth last year and they where still sorting out shops 2 years later. thing is, everybody is blaming the council environment agency etc, but the scientists have been telling us for years that climate change is a reality, we need to drive less and switch stuff off more, no plane trips to the alps etc, driving to trail centres halfway across the country, its only going to get worse

But we didn't fly and drive or have industry in the 1300s when there was a cold and wet spell.

you are right pumping billions of tons of C02 per annum into the atmosphere will have no effect whatsoever
You are a scientist and I claim my peer reviewed journal

PS lets not confuse weather and climate change eh

Putting aside the debate on global warming, academically interesting as it may be

When I was a kid, rivers use to be dredged, road drains use to be cleaned and flushed, two things that didn’t happen in and around Cambridgeshire over the last decade and having recently moved to Wiltshire I see similar tell tale signs of a lack of maintenance.

Maybe just maybe if you don’t look after your water management infrastructure then eventually it will flood when it rains.

Frankly I'm surprised you can even see the roads - Wiltshire CC have a less than stellar record of fixing them, let alone cleaning the drains.

Do you think they'd get the joke if we sent them one of the kayaks we sell for Fresh Goods Friday? 😉

Arctic is melting. Jetstream is becoming random and weak. Extreme weather will be the norm from now on.

We're all, you know...
