(i think this one has been done before but i did search)

How times have changed, what is this phone interview they speak of?

The MD of a company I have applied for is calling tomorrow at 9.30am,

Anyway, any pointers...

Got rough answers to typical questions like... tell me about yourself/current role, example of when you had to manage a stressful situation..

I've made a list of questions I'm going to ask at the end if given the opportunity...

Copy of CV ready to have infront of me...

Cleared all the babies toys out of the way so i don't trip over anything mid conversation..

The only major stumbling block is the fact the company is in the same field as the one I'm currently working for (which will cause major stomping of feet if i actually got the job) but manufactures totally different products, so it would be easy to find stuff out about our place and the fact our MD is my brother. So I'm a little paranoid as to how to answer the question (if they do probe)... "why do you want to leave your current role when your brother is the MD?"

Also how formal shall I take it, I guess just gauge how the guy is, if he's stiff upper lip middle of the road keep in his tone?

If it helps the job is a technical sales engineering role, the company has only been going 5 years and they seem quite small and the roll they are advertising is a brand new, includes supporting/backing up field engineers to resolve customer problems, looking after current client base, giving presentations on their products, looking for new customers and a bit of travel to open new markets...

Cheers for any help

Don't EVER fall into the trap of assuming it's casual because of how they speak to you. Treat it as a formal interview until you have the job; I've had candidates call me "mate" and tell me how much they want to shag the receptionist before and it didn't help their chances much.

Be honest and open and try not to bullshit too much about what they want to hear that way they and you know what you're getting. Make sure to ask them a few questions so you don't seem like you're a half-wit.

Generally, I don't think there's an art to interviews. Take it seriously and think about your answers and you'll be okay.

will he know your brother is MD of current company.

You'll almost certainly be asked why you want to leave your current job. Why do you?
