We will be in touch
I was in a particularly grumpy mood today, and the prospect of going to a NYE party at a mates girlfriends house was too much for me to bear spending hours on end with 20 people I didn't know. I had intended to spend it on my own stripping wallpaper, but got a call from a friend asking if I fancied popping down to the Tyne to see the fireworks.
Mrs Q, Harry, Mrs Harry and myself headed down to the quayside just before midnight. Wandered along to the milennium bridge and saw a lot of people on it looking at the Tyne Bridge. We stood patiently waiting for the fireworks. 12:00, 12:01, 12:02, 12:03 nowt nothing nadda.
A couple of shop boughts went off on the Gateshead side. After ten minutes or so we headed off home dissapointed.

Not in Newcastle they didn't
Wonder if it was a money thing or not.
LOL! They started fireworks at 6.20pm @ the Civic Centre ...
LOL! @ " ... saw a lot of people on it looking at the Tyne Bridge." Yes, the Tyne Bridge is a beauty.

I read that before I went out, but presumed it there were more....as did all those people on the bridge counting down the new year.
S'funny. I checked a few of the Newcastle events and listings websites - no mention of any fireworks on the quayside at all. I wonder if them not planning or announcing any there has anything to do with there not being any for you to see? 😕
There was some wifey on BBC newc earlier in the day on about a family type street carnival. As someone^ above mentioned they changed it to 6 ish so it was a more family friendly event rather thy a drink a thon.
Anyone else sleep through new year? Oops
Got hammered, fell asleep about 11, woke up in chair at 5:30am with a sore neck. Happy New Year!
