weighing up DIY and getting someone into to do it.

I have a fence that needs work, currently 6 panels of varying heights, but panels posts etc all need replacing.

Can anyone give a guide price, and if anyone can recommend someone in Cheltenham to give a quote all the better.

Did mine a few months ago. 150mm Feather edge boards were around £1.20 a piece , posts £10 a piece and rails roughly the same. Dearest bit was the Dewalt battery nailer, but hey it made life easier and I'm sure I'll use it again. 😆
I put 6 nails in each board (3 top rail , 3 bottom rail) . My neighbour thought it was overkill, but we had some pretty bad weather after I put it up , and it stayed up, whilst next doors (with his poxy one nail top and bottom) didn't .
Oh how I laughed

Did mine in May. 2 posts had broken off at ground level & 2 panels were falling to bits, replaced 3 6'x 6' panels @£25 each & 2 3" x 3" posts @£5 each. One post had previously been concreted in with 2.4 tonnes of concrete & was a bitch to dig out, I had to borrow a Kango hammer & was on the verge of getting someone in but I persevered & consequently lost some weight!

I've was quoted for 3 panels plus concrete posts and gravel boards and it was around £100 per panel all in. I was going to go for it but got another chap in who was adamant that the existing fence was fine and just needed post replacements, he replaced 3 posts for about £120, cracked on one morning while I went out on my bike. I just get a man in these days. Of course you can do it yourself cheaper in terms of material costs, but it's time that's most important and I can't afford a day grunting in the garden these days - i'd rather be out and about doing stuff and get a man in.
