A torch.

Just bought my 8 year old a metal cased LED torch. Cost £12, is really bright and youd have thought Id given him a light sabre. He loves it

My boy's just turned 9. Got him a victorinox "my first pen knife". Do it! He'll never forget it.

Lego's expensive - great stuff, but the present always looks a bit on the small side unless you want to spend a fortune. Penknife, Nerf, decent torch, binoculars...

Beware chemistry sets tho - they all come with ridiculous expectations of 'household items' needed to get going

Bregante is correct. Nerf gun.

Northwind will be able to assist with the absolute correct choice.

Make sure you get two. Nerf wars, innit!
