a while ago Facebook changed the format and I now get a notification (not by email) on my screen every time someone just does something!

it used to be only when someone commented on a post i'd put up or commented on. Now I get one for everything everyone does, it does my head in. the problem then lies in the comments notifications get buried beneath all the other drivel.

my OH's doesn't do this, we've checked all the settings but no use

anyone??

top right you will see home and a little arrow head next to it. click that you get a drop down menu with account settings click that, left hand side of the next screen you will see notifications - click that then that is where you set what notifications you get by email box at teh top you can click that or you can customise it for individual things further down

I only use Fb on my iPhone, with iOS5, and I get occasional updates on my lockscreen when someone comments on a post of mine, or a comment of mine, but not otherwise.

If you're referring to the right hand side 'ticker'; there is an extension which blocks it in Chrome, and ways round it in Firefox with scripts.

Both methods linked to through this page;

Just delete your account. Then your life will be enriched by not knowing the opinion of a work colleague on who they want to win on the X Factor, or what they had for tea, or how smelly their turds are.

TJ, nice autocorrect there 😆

GG, i'm nearing to hitting the delete button and this hassle is another nail....

here's what I get: in my notifications it's basically notifying me of EVERYTHING and not only replies, comments etc on stuff that i've commented on, which is how it used to be

I think you've just answered my question!! Give it a few hours and if it's not climbing back up to 99 notifications then it's fixed 8)
