EEEK! 😯
(and this is about the only time I ever expect to say this, but I'm glad Fernando is OK, that looked bad)
Disappointed to see a driver as good as alonso go out like that, but if kimi and webber could score big today it would be great for the championship.
Just seen the replay from Fernando's perspective 😯 😯 😯
Just seen the replay, Fernando is a lucky lucky boy. That could easily have been his head wiped out 😯
I suspect someone will need a change or undergarments...
Grosjean just lied about not having seen the incident on replay, we saw pictures of him watching it on the pit wall, naughty boy feeling guilty me thinks.
I'd've liked to see the incident from Grosjean's car as well....
I Love kimi
Well done to Jenson.
At my mums this afternoon so watched it on the bbc for the first time this year, their coverage is rubbish compared to sky. Almost want to watch it again properly later, feel like I've missed out
How bad are the podium interviews - what a crap idea...

Yup, at one point I thought he was going to propose to Jensen
Mrs Button (Jessica Michibata) is looking particularly tasty today!
What happened?!
I'm stuck in the back of beyond with limited interweb, certainly not enough for streaming video. Do tell!
Grosjean put Hamilton on the grass at the start, triggered a biggie into La Source, went aerial and had a go at removing Alonso's head. Could have been messy.

What am I missing by not having Sky? (Apart from the non-live races).
Jeepers that was lucky.

Sky coverage is more professional - BBC seems a bit too light hearted (to me) now, which probably good for the casual fan, but I much prefer Skys offering. Crofty and Brundle are the perfect commentary team.

Sky have ruined it, just like they ruined the football, with too much statistical and in depth blarney. They have taken two enjoyable forms of sport, and in an effort to justify the amount of money they are ripping their viewers off with, filled it with not particularly important stuff. BBC show what matters.
That, and the BBC have Gary Anderson doing the technical stuff, he really knows what he's on about.
1 race ban for Grosjean
Sky have ruined football have they! Haha what a stupid comment.... The Premier League is the most watched league on the planet thanks to them and looks to me like they're doing a pretty good job with the F1 as well. Long may it continue.
statistical and in depth blarney.
Some of us like stats and in-depth blarney! 😀
I guess the BBC's coverage may seem light-hearted; they have to appeal to the average license payer, not someone willing to pay £x a month.
Agree that Brundle is good, but also agree with sobriety about Gary Anderson, knows more technical stuff then most.
What am I missing by not having Sky? (Apart from the non-live races).
The ability to watch the build up/summary on the BBC and the race itself on Sky
And some superb GP2 and GP3 races
Sky have ruined football have they! Haha what a stupid comment.... The Premier League is the most watched league on the planet as footballers can make a mint through extortionate wages and most of the clubs are in debt thanks to them.
Fixed it for you.
Agreed on the podium interview stuff. That was cringe-worthy.
Does anyone know why Lewis carried part of his car back to the pits?
I'll second the Mrs Button like.
And finally, was it Vettel who darted round to the podium girls and gave them a spray of champagne? Good boy! 😉
Who do you think will be sitting in for Grojean in Monza then?
It'll be D'ambrosio
Algesuari? Don't even know why TR dropped him.
D'ambrosio is the only other driver that's driven that car, it'd be daft to try and get someone else up to speed and do the setup on Friday and Saturday practice
I watched the second half of the race today-really enjoyed it, and its the only live action that I've seen all year. I'll never pay for sky so my interest has been almost non existant this year after only missing 15 or so races from the ages of 5-25 🙁
Daft move by Grosjean-I've just read that he hasn't completed the first lap unscathed 7/12 times this year 😯 not quite sure it warranted a ban, but as said above, Teflonso was very lucky!
What Hamilton is thinking these days is beyond me-last year his head was completely gone. This year he seemed to start with a much more mature attitude, but of late he has been worse than ever! He gets worse with age, and from being an absolute hero of mine when he won GP2 and had his amazing first year, I can bear to watch an interview with him now.
Are Renault allowed to field a reserve driver or are they only allowed to run 1 car?
Are Renault allowed to field a reserve driver
Yes, it's a driver penalty not a team one
What am I missing by not having Sky? (Apart from the non-live races).
brundles grid walk and his thinly veiled contempt for the "celebs" he encounters whilst wandering about
Nicole looks like a snake with boobies to me in that pic - her torso seems too long...
Regarding Hamilton he's fine when he's number 1 in the team, he gets stroppy & messes up when someone has the advantage over him - see Alonso & sporadically Jenson.
He said he was looking for more stable relationship away from the track, but I can't see how a relationship with a pop star is ever going to be that stable as someone like that is always going to have loads of hangers on & outside pressures.
Regarding [s]Hamilton[/s]Vettel he's fine when he's number 1 in the team, he gets stroppy & messes up when someone has the advantage over him - see [s]Alonso & sporadically Jenson[/s]Webber.
Regarding Alonso he's fine when he's number 1 in the team, he gets stroppy & messes up when someone has the advantage over him - see [s]Alonso[/s]Hamilton & sporadically [s]Jenson[/s]Massa.
Regarding Button he's fine when he's number 1 in the team, he gets stroppy & messes up when someone has the advantage over him - see [s]Alonso[/s]Hamilton & sporadically [s]Jenson[/s]Baricello.
And I could go on...
I see Maldonado has been handed 2 x 5 place grid penalty for Monza, they'll be making him start after everyone else has gone home before long at this rate.
I think Maldonado needs a ban for a race or two to calm him down. Given he was almost given a lifetime ban from driving in Monaco after ignoring yellow flags and then hitting and nearly killing a marshal. Luckily for him, daddy's chequebook made that one go away but the way he drives, it's only a matter of time before he hurts someone again.
Another +1 for Sky coverage.
Understand completely people not wanting to pay for Sky and hated the fact BBC lost it/decided not to continue.
However, full coverage, Brundle, Crofty, Hill, Davidson, Herbert and Georgie make it a great experience.
Wouldn't have paid the extra for it had it been bundled with SkySports pack, but since it's free with Sky HD I love it!

Algesuari? Don't even know why TR dropped him.
Because it became clear that he wasn't going to be a Vettel and that's what they're interested in using STR for - the results as such aren't critical rather bringing a driver with WC potential on is.
I thought that the loss of Brundle on BBC was going to be huge but TBH I haven't really missed him. I reckon that DC and whoever the other bloke is do a very good job. I watched a couple of races on Sky F1 and tbh I didn't think it was as good as the BBC coverage. YMMV of course.
Grosjean is thoroughly deserving of his ban. He caused the collision which put 4 other drivers out of the race and could have caused serious injuries.
He is clearly talented but needs to learn to calm down
whached the race on sky but missed the bit about Grosjean getting a ban!
is it one race?
crush83, yes just a one race ban.
Grosjean is clumsy but has potential, he just really needs some start training. Maldonado is aggressive and dangerous, I'd much rather see him banned for a very long time.
Button had a great day, if somewhat slightly lonely out front all alone for the day.
Podium interviews - I just don't get it, what was wrong with the post race conference.
Sky coverage just seems like a characterless version of the BBC to me, there is more personality to it by far. And although I have the Sky channel I prefer the BBC coverage.
Hamilton qualified poorly, childishly tweeted pictures of his and Jenson's telemetry traces after Saturdays session, he didn’t get of the line as well as the rest of the grid at the start leaving a gap that Grosjean spotted and quite rightly exploited, then Hamilton with a trademark do or die maneuver tried to recover the situation.
And Grosjean gets a one race ban
Hamilton with a trademark do or die maneuver tried to recover the situation.
Not how I saw it, Hamilton held his line and Grosjean ran into him.
It couldn't be clearer.
Even Grosjean said he made a mistake when he went across. The only alternative for Hamilton would be to brake and get smashed into from behind.
kona - arguably Hamilton punished himself in all of your points. Except the do or die move. What was he supposed to do, teleport through the pit wall or slam on the brakes?
Grosjean put his car where there was already a car.
then Hamilton with a trademark do or die maneuver tried to recover the situation.
He held it straight - how is that 'do or die'?
Even Grosjean has put his hands up to making a mistake

You think the collision was intentional then? I thought it was more carelessness/incompetence.
I personally think that Maldonado is much more worthy of a ban, considering that his incidents almost always seem to be red mist moments.

If he'd have braked his front left would have hit the rear right of RG.
I'm not sure that Kona TC's comments are worthy of a reply.
Nope, just a hater with no sense of objectivity. I don't think from those comments he even saw the incident.
Vettel was in suprisingly good form in the interviews. His Schu comments were carefully tempered and his firm point that he apologised for knocking JB off a couple of years ago could be seen as being pointed at Grosjean (is it me, or does anyone else think of Billy Elliot when they see him?)
You think the collision was intentional then? I thought it was more carelessness/incompetence.
He moved all the way across the track and hit Hamilton, I'm sure he didn't intend to crash and ruin his own race. But no one was forcing him to move right and hit Hamilton therefore the initial collision and the ensuing carnage was 100% his fault.

Possibly, he has a history of dangerous and agressive moves but Maldonando's trangressions don't really have any bearing on the incident with Grosjean
It was only Spa last year when Maldo swiped Hamiltons car. On purpose. It's astonishing he wasn't banned then.
