ITV didnt show any F1 coverage did they? The other thing is whether stuff in actually broadcast in HD on a HD channel. A lot of my friends didnt realise there was an option in the sky planner which shows programs to be broadcast in HD in orange.

No they didn't...and Bernie and the F1 crowd didn't film in HD last year either so it can't have been broadcast anywhere in the world in HD.

A couple of races were upsampled to 1080i and broadcast on BBC One HD last year, but not filmed in HD. Just for balance, they will now be filmed in 1080p and broadcast downsampled to 1080i (720p).

Great move - as usual at this time of year I'm getting impatient for it all to kick off again. Car launches start in a coupla weeks, for the nerds like me!

Dammit - I said I'd hold out on splurging cash on HD until they were broadcasting F1 in it.... hrumph.

BTW - is MotoGP in HD? 😀

hmmmm HD, i've seen a bit of HD, there was an underwater tropical programme that was quite good, other than that i have nightmares about gordon strachans blotchy face and van morrisons nasal hair 😯

Double wow - is there anything more boring than someone so predudiced and ignorant of F1 that they bother to comment on an F1 discussion? If you find F1 dull then surely a conversation on the subject is ultra-dull to you, so why bother.

I stayed at the Hilton Metropole by Edgware Road tube station last night and they have a Maclaren F1 in the lobby which you can get real close up to. It's a number 22 so the one after they got banned and demoted to last place. I spent about 15 minutes gawping at it and was amazed at the aeordynamics design which TV doesn't do justice to. Worth a look if you are in the area.

During its time at ITV and BBC it has never been flimed in HD. This year it is, it will be as glenp said, itll be filmed in 1080p but arrives into the country as an encoded MPEG at 1080i. I work in the teleport that provides the feeds to the Beeb.

Seriously, I like close racing and although a bigger fan of moto gp that has been poor recently only 17 bikes on the grid and only 3 or 4 able to win .Formula 1 could yet win my support.

It's hard to see how much better 2011 would have to be to convince anyone! 2010 was one of the all-time classic seasons, with four championship contenders right down to the end of the season. And now we have yet another world champion on the grid, plus new gizmos to help overtaking.

Ah yes, the moveable rear wing.... 😕

Why don't they just remove the paddle shift gear levers so driver error becomes more pronounced.
