One of the neighbours behind has been playing 80's stuff since about 7 through what can only be a stage PA system.
It's way tom loud for a stereo, so loud infact that I an hear it very clearly through the double glazing in juniors bedroom.
I can't see which house it's coming from, but know the general location. It must be at least 60m away, because that's how far I can see!
Already called the local plod, but they obviously have more important stuff to deal with on a saturday world cup match night.
I did think of sneaking round the side(new houses) and pulling his main cutout fuse out!
Who do I complain to damit!

Eh!

It's barely gone 11pm.

If I turn it up, will you hear it any better?

They're miles away! It's not like it's next door, plus it's bloody aweful!

If it's 60m away, it's a safe bet that one of the closer neighbours might be a bit more upset than you and do something !

Wait till they're right next door. The music starts at 7am, the dog barks from 8, it barks all day in the house and then the music starts again when they get home and goes on till about 10-11pm.

I've been round a number of times and they turn it down for a bit, and then it ramps up again. It's never enough to warrant the council getting involved.

Plus they argue a lot, the kid screams all the time. They're ****ing crazy and they've made it clear they (as a family), hate cyclists.

Great neighbours.

Did they describe you as a Lycra clad terrorist?

The easiest answer is call the police. If it's a public nuisance they'll be round quickly.

As for the quickest way to quell crowd noise there are two options, both of which I've witnessed first hand - an English Electric Lightning on full military power or a fully trained opera soprano.

Both yield startling results.

Did they describe you as a Lycra clad terrorist?

I believe the word they used was '****er'

edit: oh, well, it rhymes with 'anchor'

See if they've got a hose attached to an outside tap. Wait 'til they're abed, then shove it through the letterbox and turn it on hard.

Oh man. Why have I never thought of this?

Are these people owners or tenants? - if tenants get in touch with the landlord. I had neighbours like this once but 2 days after speaking to the landlord they where given notice to leave.

Never enough to warrant the council getting involved? I think you might find you are wrong there.

Make a diary of disturbances. Also, when you spoke to them and what was said.

Whe you have a couple of month's worth of material, write a detailed letter to your council's environmental health department.

Sound's like these people could do with an ASBO!

Councils tend to take noise disturbances very seriously and many will have dedicated teams operating between 11pm and 4am to deal with residential problems. Check local Council or police websites for non-emergency numbers, or even a specific section on noise problems. Don't assume that nobody else takes seriously the problem of noise pollution and disturbances.

we've just had problems with our neighbours dogs barking. We had a problem back in Feb and after two and half yrs of frustrating incessant dog barking i thought i needed to say something. We have had trouble with them when we moved here and she took on the land registry who were on our side and lost, that had taken 8 months of unnecessary stress, so i was a bit anxious about having a word knowing what i would be dealing with. Anyway he was in and apologised and said it wouldn't happen again and if i had anymore trouble with the dogs barking then give him a shout. He works away most of the week and so isn't here. His wife and step son have been increasing leaving the three dogs outside until about midnight and hey bark non stop all evening. I have been round and they've been out so i recorded them on my camera. The other night it was going on again until midnightish so i went out and filmed the dogs barking and then photographed one as it was in another neighbours garden rummaging around. As i was laid in bed waiting for something to change i heard a car pull up and saw it was her so i went round and said i had recorded and photographed the dogs and it had gone on for too long now. She apologised profusely and the next day we had a letter of apology and no trouble since. Still keeping the recordings though you never know 😉

Must be awful to have bad neighbours, I sympathise with those of you who have problems with them. I've got elderly neighbours either side of me and the worst I get is the off bit of bass from the tv when they watch 'Deal or No Deal'.

We've had a succession of bad neighbours to be honest. It's taught me that it's the most important thing when buying a house too.

The guy next door (on the other side to the noisy ones) and the bloke before him both had lots of friends who would park right across our drive. Totally bizarre. I really couldn't work out how they could be so inconsiderate. Had a big argument with one of his mates once about it, he parked there, blocked my car in and then they went off together, didn't come back for a couple of hours. I don't think it was malicious, some people just don't think about other people.

Plus when we do sell (not for a few years yet as my son is settled in the school just round the corner and has GCSE's coming), this guy's garden is completely overgrown with rubbish and old chairs and things lying around in it, it'll really put prospective buyers off. To be honest I'll tidy it up myself if it's not changed.
