I agree they are different systems, obviously, but I don't think it is as undemocratic as the detractors make out.

Whereas I think many people think a member has equivalent powers to a member of our parliament. You also miss out the fact that any decision by the parliaments can be effectively vetoed by the Council of Minsters.

Regarding Bananas it was illegal to sell bananas which did not meet the regulation size, this was amended in 2009.

So a regulation that was repealed 8 years ago and had nothing to do with banning bendy bananas in the first place.

Good reason to leave the EU now ๐Ÿ™„

AND it is a positive pro-Brexit article

Though earlier:

Whereas you seem happy to completely ignore the negative aspect of the story: Deutsche Bank's prediction for the future of sterling.

Not at all.
The main aspect of the article was negative. The positive bit was sandwiched in the middle of all the negativity.

Not that according to you or kimbers it is positive:

A 25 year lease agreement is great news for their prospective landlord.

But I'm not sure what can be read beyond that?

So it isn't positive?

WRT your screenshot; 14 news articles, six with positive headlines, one with negative.
So that's seven that illustrate my point. ๐Ÿ’ก

I'm off to do something more worthwhile, I think I've got some cats to plait out back...

I don't know, why don't we discuss it?
It's not like the actual legislation which did refer to bananas with "abnormal curvature" has been linked to has it?

Get back here Kitty.

Good reason to leave the EU now

The fact it made a stupid regulation in the first place is pretty indicative of how it has and continues to involve itself unnecessarily. Markets have developed certification standards for years without them needing to be enshrined in law, it was one of the original purposes of the livery companies in the City of London.

The main aspect of the article was negative.

You clearly haven't read it.

It was written by a pro-Brexit author who says he'd "take it with a pinch of salt myself" and explains why a falling pound it "makes our own exports cheaper, meaning there will be more of them" and is "exactly what will deal with that current account deficit.".

So it isn't positive?

It's a good thing, but I'm not sure I read a building rental it as a huge commitment.

If you read the Telegraph article (your top hit) it also notes: "The lender also has several other leases which will expire in the coming years, and over time hopes to reduce its presence from the current 15 buildings in London."

That article also quotes the Chief Executive as saying they have "strategic goals of increasing efficiency"

WRT your screenshot; 14 news articles, six with positive headlines, one with negative.

All you alluded to was something in the news about Deutsche Bank.

I naively thought you might be referring to the (positively spun pro-Brexit) story from the day before yesterday, rather than old headlines from five days ago.

But yeah, course, bias. #fakenews ๐Ÿ™„

Yes it has. I linked to it. And it doesn't ban bendy bananas does it?

Trading block seeks to define legal trading standards at the bequest of traders.

Not sure I see the issue there. Certainly I can understand that if I were a grocer ordering 50 tons of bananas from mainland Europe I'd want some kind of assurance that I'd receive something looking like this:

And not this:

'Nanas again

It's a classic brexie myth,

Just like Cummings etal bragged about

Of course it's all lies, just keep repeating it and it'll focus the debate on these terrible regulations that supposedly? ruin all our lives

Meanwhile the Scots are of and Britain is becoming ever more parochial, the stark inequalities in our communities will only get worse, crumbling standards in education, NHS, social care, local council funding all conveniently ignored while we celebrate our sovereignty ๐Ÿ™„

Or perhaps instead of playing The Pronoun Game with a vaguely worded post about "that little piece of news..." and an amusing photo of Bojo doing his Jimmy Hill face you could instead provide an actual link to the thing you want to talk about?

Trading block seeks to define legal trading standards at the bequest of traders.

I'm not sure it had a terminal effect on any traders, but the point being market standards don't need to be made into law, the world relies on many standards that aren't laid down in regulation.

So May now wants a "deep and special partnership" after Brexit.

Is that better or worse than a Red,White and Blue Brexit?

It was in the news, I thought the protagonists on here liked to be informed and would have been aware of it.
It's positive news, in spite of Brexit, that no one had mentioned.
Funny that it had been mentioned on other forums, but not here.
I hadn't mentioned it sooner as I thought I'd give the forum a chance to prove me wrong. ๐Ÿ™‚

I was aware of it. I was also aware of the further nuances since the original story broke five days ago, so I linked to something more current that covered both points and asked you if that was what you meant because you hadn't bothered to explain.

Still struggling to see what your issue is with that but do carry on. I have cats to plait.

Sbob. Can you at least promise me that, extreme circumstances notwithstanding, you will stick around on here for the next couple of years at least? I doubt even you are going to be able to explain away all the bad things that are going to happen as the result of either bitter foreigners or pessimistic remain voters.

You carry on enjoying yourself in the meantime, fella. Just please don't do a Houdini when it all starts to turn to shit, yeah?

Jamby, Ninfers and Chewie likewise, please.

It's your victory guys, you should be proud.

Actually when Brexit isn't a success could all the Brexies follow Dear Leader Nige's example and leave the country.
That will at least leave room for some hardworking Poles and Romanians instead of you work shy bunch. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Can you speak other EU language fluently? If you can then you have no worry coz all my European friends can speak English fluently. If you cannot even speak any of the EU language then you have never been part of EU.

Given chewkw's reaction when I suggested meeting for a beer, if he exists at all he's probably a bit of a keyboard warrior and the chances of him sticking around on this thread when Brexit fails / trashes the country are roughly zero.

Have you looked at Lord Ashcroft report, spot the trend? Report here. The younglings are slowly being turned into drones by the EU bureaucratic system. ๐Ÿ˜†

This old chestnut.

The UK already trades around the world. Is your car, phone, cooker, clothing and so on British?

And Germany does it a lot more than us. So maybe we could work at doing it as well as they do instead of pretending it's the EU holding us back.

My apology I overstated myself. Not my victory alone. ๐Ÿ˜†

The Victory should belong to all those that voted to leave the EU bureaucratic system.

As long as we leave everything will be fine.

Chewk, i learnt many years ago i wasn't English, that i was scum, a paddy, a provo, I also knew i wasn't Irish a country i never lived in.

So know i am a citizen of nowhere and would rather carry the passport of a country i don't live in than the an English one.

My qualifications are meaningless, my ability is something else but the sellabilty of that depends a lot on people's spending, access to other markets where those skills are wanted (temporarily) and general economic health.

I'm not saying it is going to go tits up, I'm just saying having the ability to move where an economy suits you better will be more limited after Brexit.

A Polish partner and Irish mother mean I'll be immune to a lot of this but that doesn't mean it doesn't bother me or potentially affect people I know.

Lovely to have you back by the way chewkw.

While you have been away I've been trying to dig the UK out of the hole you Brexies have left us in. I've mentioned on here a number of initiatives I've been involved in both in the UK and the US helping the government try to get something new going. I was speaking to DIT just last week and I'll be doing something more with a large manufacturer that has been mentioned on this thread later this week.

In all this I've yet to meet a Brexy doing anything.

I've asked Brexies on here to tell us what they've been doing. The answer has been silence. Nothing. The Brexies are sat on their fat lazy behinds I think.

Brexies - good at moaning, good at making noise, good at wrecking. Useless at creating a positive future.

Agreed?
