Why do some people on this forum do this? When a subject comes up (music, tv, sport or whatever) there is always an element of people who say 'xxxxx who'?

Is it some kind of display of idiocy? I mean, someone has just said 'Andy who?' about Andy Murray. You really do have to be pretty dim to not have heard of someone with his media profile.

Very odd.

Is it some kind of display of idiocy?

No. It is an expression in common use which is usually abbreviated as "WGAF?"

I am not claiming that it is particularly witty, constructive or helpful, but it does not connote idiocy. 🙂

reminds me of a knock knock I heard recently:

Knock knock
Who's there
Control freak, now you say control freak who.

My favourite knock know joke is the one which goes:

'I've got a good knock knock joke, you start.'

'Okay. Knock Knock.'

'Who's there?'

...

Back on topic though, sometimes it can be quite genuine. All the media profile in the world won't grab your attention if you switch off whenever certain subjects come up.

For instance the first I knew about jade Goody's cancer was when she died of it.

I beg to differ about Andy Murray being a celebrity. He's a sportsman.
Celebrities are ten a penny these days and even the word pisses me off.

I'm with jackthedog - there are a very large number of things that make me turn the TV off. Soaps, football, cricket to name a few. If they come on the TV, the TV goes to another channel. If they come up in the news I zone out and ignore it. I don't have the brain-space to care about that sort of thing, so I choose not to take any notice at all. That said, I'd not reply in the thread either.

I did say 'When a subject comes up (music, tv, sport or whatever' but perhaps my use of the word in the title wasn't clear.

OT I know, but the best I heard (whilst working in a dementia unit) was shouted at me, randomly, by one of the old lasses: "Connie, phone 999 - he's got that bloody kitten again!". Marvellous.

I was tempted to buy one then realised that a) they were out of stock & b) I am a mid 40's bald bloke & it would have been very sad

that would fit with his usual claims - there have only been two previous seasons.

Yes, thats him, Henton. Made me some black pudding ice cream once - bound me up in my back body. I prefer a nice slice of ham. Or tongue. Tongue's lovely...
