Love it. One of my all time favourite everyday chilli sauces.
It's not bad but not really that hot.
My 7 year old lad eats it with a spoon... but he's a bit of a knob.
i like it in a ham sandwich
I have a bottle of mad dog 357 reserve for when its real chilli cooking time
I know a (daft) lad who swallowed a teaspoonful of Daves Insanity sauce a few years ago. Took him 3 days to get over the shock.
(he's also eaten prison soap for a bet, thats how daft he is.)
Anal angst is pretty hot.
Essel, a colleague or a "guest"?
Essel, a colleague or a "guest"?
Haha! No, a lad at work. He's nuts, great lad, brilliant crack & a good egg.
Just completely nuts.
My honest opinion is that I find the regular hot sauce hotter than the extra hot.
It also seems to taste better, has anybody else noticed this?
great brand though.
I really like the taste of the encona sauces (prefer the extra hot though) and I really, really like Frank's. I do have some bottles of stuff that's have a few drops and go foetal but that stuff isn't great on a regular sammich!
I tried that Encona chilli sauce a while back but I found it to be very poor.
I would choose Tabasco over Encona any day as Tabasco taste much better than those wannabe chilli sauce or alternatively try any of the chilli sauce from South East Asia, yes, that region.
Most of the South American chilli are just hot with not much taste in it, however, you can make them into lethal chilli spray to fend off intruder(s) if you have some fresh ones.
This is the best for western standard!
I have 3 bottles in my kitchen cupboard at all time.
😛
This spineless ****ery!
One of my colleagues came into work with three jars of pure capsacium - 14.7m scoville units.
We managed to persuade another to eat a pork pie with roughly half a teaspoon of it on.
Now that won my respect.

this is hot enough and tastes good too.
Got that. I like!

Me too 🙂
First tried Dave's Insanity Sauce at the West Dean Chilli Fiesta about 20 years ago.
Tried to cool my mouth down with Chilli Ice Cream. Was quite a day!

The reason that a lot of macho sounding American sauces taste of nothing but heat is that they're basically a load of not much with capsicum extract added.
But there are exceptions, on my travels I spent some time in Belize where a lady called Marie Sharpe is practically a national hero.
Her 'Beware' sauce is great but a bit much for regular use, I've currently got her 'Fiery hot' for proper heat and thier 'Green Habenero' for when I fancy a bit more tang. They don't use any Capsicum extract just locally grown Habenero's it's lovely stuff. Well worth tracking down.
I also have a business contact in California who brings me proper Sriracha sauce from time to time, it's no Marie Sharpes but makes great 'evil ketchup.'
Love the econa extra hot. It's got a kick but not so bad you can't use it as a relish. Stuff like Daves insanity 😯
A bit silly really, tastes like mud !! Only ever used it to add background heat. If you can find it Daves ghost pepper sauce is hotter but has flavour as well.
I just counted 10 different types of chilli sauce in my kitchen cupboard with 4 bottles of Tabasco, various South East Asian ones (including Frank's above), 2 bottles of South American ones and I think there is one from Spain too ...
I love chilli sauce me ... 😉
I must say the Tabasco sauce has the closest chilli sauce taste to my childhood chilli sauce and we drank that stuff with noddles, fried or soup based ... everything with chilli. I think I can easily go through that Tabasco in 3 days as a kid (7 to 9 yr old btw). 😆
I also have several types of chilli oil ...

I think I have seen them in TK Maxx so will search them there ... I need good chilli sauce and am very picky about them.
I've tried Ass in the tub/Who Dares Burns sauces and moved on.
Loved the fruityness of Encona.
I now make my own. I chop a packet or 2 of finger chillies (dependent on how sporty I want it) plus some standard hot chillies. Cook together with some vinegar, water and salt and blend. Job done. Suppose you could add a bit of garlic/onion/tomato etc but I dont.
Comes out with bits which I like but pass through a strainer if you want it smooth.
Sriracha extra hot is f'in awesome stuff!.
Drac, I've got a bottle of Santa's Shit here at work. It's as hot as Satan's but with a slight "mince pie" tang to it. We use it as punishment whenever someone does something stupid.
Probably the 2nd hottest thing I've ever eaten after Satan's. Although it's technically the same as Santa's I think the sweetness of Santa just takes the edge off. Still makes my skeleton vibrate within my body though.
Marie sharpes's in TK Max you say?
I'm on my way! Usually I have get it mail order from specialist places so that's well worth a go.
I bought some of this to sort out a friend in Uni who reckoned he could est anything. He couldnt cope with the Reaper. For my tastes insanely hot but had a nice flavour, good to add to a chili. Another mate tried a tea spoon full and said it had a bit of a kick but was very nice. I do worry about people who can eat really hot stuff 😆
...hot on the way in and hot on the way out...my ring has spoken !
I am partial to a bit of Encona especially with cheesy scrambled egg, which for some reason goes so well with chilli just like ketchup and mustard goes with hot dogs. If anything Encona has an ok taste yet like many 'supermarket sauces' it's overly blessed in the vinegar stakes.
Still have a little South Devon Chilli Farm hot sauce left over from Xmas. Hot, tasty, don't need a big slug of it. Near perfect for my needs.
Friends and I have a dumb game where we head-to-head eat a teaspoon of Blair's Sudden Death sauce and see who can lay off the milk the longest. I actually like the (richly fruity) taste, but it takes merely one drop of the evil stuff to heat a whole chilli con carne or a curry to madras level. Sillyness. I discovered Sudden Death after some nice person (during impromptu lengthy drinking session) silently handed it over to put on a homemade chip wrap. I laid it on like tabasco. Wtf? Was so hungry I just had to eat it it but cried big rolling tears throughout. That stuff is suitable to handle with gloves , pipette and glasses. Nice to use to modify existing sauces and salsas. Works out economically in that sense as is very rich.
As with many things, home-made is tops.

If you like it chipotle stylee, or make chilli con carnes etc, I just recently discovered a way to get that smoky hot taste without using expensive mesquite liquid, and this adds heat and richness too:

Bought a shed load of tins bulk purchase from popular online store. Gave some away as gifts. This is miles above any smoked paprika I've ever used, the colour is incredible, the taste is deep and robust and it smells like a campfire.
this is my kind of discussion!
I keep a bottle of Frank's in my locker here at work, for essential condimenting of beans on toast when i have special Friday breakfasts instead of the usual overnight oats...
agree with those who dislike Dave's Insanity though; I'm not averse to very hot sauces but they have to taste good too- Dave's is just harsh and horrible. A good Habanero based sauce is far superior to those cap extract based bottles of nonsense (although Who Dares Burns is a regular at the moment too).
for flavour though, currently I'm most definitely in the midst of a chipotle addiction.
El Avion is the "go to" in the Canarias - used it in loads of stuff over the years.
Fave is fresh yoghurt, cumin, El Avion, Sea Salt - rub it into chicken, pork fillet, brisket then lob it on a rack over a fire and leave for as long as you can stand it.....
If you're going to buy pimentón, the best stuff is "Pimentón de la Vera", which is a Spanish DOP (similar to wine regions) controlling quality etc.

Link to online store please? I may need to buy shed load for pickle veg.

I bought all of mine from TK Maxx the smoke paprika is very nice as well as the hot smoke paprika ones ... I think I have 3 tins of them. The tin cover is a bit weak so need to open them carefully or you will bend the tin cover. 😀
sazter - MemberI am loving this stuff at the moment, on everything, especially eggs... nom!
Ya, got that. Nice but I prefer the Classic.

I eat that by the bucket full, im not a fan of the artifical sauces, this is about as hot as it gets before they start adding additives. Such a nice fruity taste.
I had a pin prick amount of that Satans's Shit stuff Drac posted the video of and it was horrific. Instantly drenched in sweat, red face, pain etc.
