is there something that can have anyone who emails me need to get verified to stop unwanted emails? like a captcha system they get directed to? I've used the same email for years, would prefer not to have to get rid of the account. ta.
A bit laborious, but could you not get everything forwarded to your SPAM folder, then you un-Spam the senders you're happy with so they go straight to your inbox in future?
move your mail server to google apps. Their spam filter is ace.

Not that I'm aware of....might be better getting yourself a new email address...gmail or similar and slowly migrating to the new address at your leisure over a six month period or something

Seconded. I only put my 'fun' domain on google apps because I'd bought an android phone and I have found it a very good service.
