In either pounds or dollars I would think.

Insane isn't it?

(The only musk thread I could find was closed in 2024?)

I must add a bit of an addendum. It will be paid over time and is conditional on hitting sales targets.

Still insane though.

Let's hope the backlash continues. Sadly the big drop in sales seems to be just in Europe which means that lots of Americans are still buying his plastic panzerwagens

Let’s hope he delves deeper into his ketamine habit, and suffers the consequences

It seems madness but I guess he has to be paid a stupid amount of money because if he's not worth it then the value of the company (that seems based solely on hype rather than actual sales) would also get called into question and the whole charade would collapse. The only comfort to take from it is that having all that money doesnt seem to make him happy in the slightest.

All part of the hype.

Just a few orders of magnitude more ridiculous than having billionaires. I suppose it distracts from the evils of having so many of them.

Somewhat galling that the mega, giga and possibly soon to be tera rich can use their wealth to borrow money to fund their lifestyles and use that and other avoidance techniques to avoid paying much income tax.

He'd have to increase the value of Tesla by a factor of 6

When his robotaxi's are mowing people down on the streets and the inevitable court cases start, the value isn't going to increase that sharply.

It's amazing what you can get away with when the board of the company is full of your mates.

At least Norway's sovereign wealth fund were against it, but they only hold 1% of the stock or something, so can't really force the issue.

But no, he's not worth it.

Again, comfort can be taken that robotaxis, occupying Mars, hyperloops and the rest are always getting kicked further into the long grass rather than actually happening.

Sums it up. They had no choice, a no vote would reveal that the Tesla board have no confidence in Musk and that would have all sorts of problems for all the shareholders. I suppose at least this way, when he can't do what they've asked; they have the grounds to get rid if they want.

This will go down as one of the moments of spectacular hubris that precede the coming tech crash.

There should be  pay per view of him getting fed into a woodchipper.

Billionaires should be the only ones paying, everyone else can view it free.

This should happen whether or not he's a trillionaire.

Theoretical $ and I wouldn't count on it working out over the next 5 years.

Still - for once in your life do something worthwhile for someone other than yourself.

Here's an interesting take on this pay packet.  Basically it says that it's been written in such a way that it sounds impossible but is, in fact, all very achievable:

https://wlockett.medium.com/musks-1-trillion-pay-packet-is-not-what-you-think-17b5eeeeb956

Of course, this all relies on the entire house of cards not collapsing spectacularly before that.  This deal is just part of the effort to keep the ride going as long as possible.

Will never happen. Not with Musk, not ever. Even the stuff that his companies have done that _might_ benefit the world have done it for profit and ohis personal enrichment.

I think any argument that Tesla are not complicit with Musk's Nazi salutes are now blown out of the water. Will not buy anything Musk related. Ever.

It’s amazing when you think that publicly voicing the opinions he does and carrying on the way he does would get you sacked on the spot in most jobs.

They should have added fix this forum as a clause if they'd wanted to make sure he could never collect

Much as I detest the man it might be worth an investment. I might as well make some money from it to help me and my family as I’m in no position to have any impact on changing the process

Ignoring the moral side of the argument and based purely on the fundamentals of investing, I'd say, 'Are you crazy or just stupid?'

However, the stock market has become as much of a meme-factory as the crypto market you might well be right.  I expected the crash to come early this year but timing crashes is notoriously tricky.  Could be two years away.  And stock prices always do the stupidest things just before the crash...

So yeah, crack on and let us know wen lambo.

To put that into perspective.

If you gave William The Conqueror $1Million a day since he invaded he would only have a third of that amount.

or

he will get nearly $300,000,000 a day over the next 10 years

@Kentishman

sounds good but it’s 959 years since he invaded that’s 350035 days which is $350 trillion. However if you gave him $1000 per day then it works. Which is still staggering.

He also has the medical company Neuralink, which is claimed to hopefully one day help cure paralysis and the like.

Though from whats gone before, and the subject of thousands of sci-fi books, he's really looking to create an army of slaves all controlled electronically.

Most US CEOs are remunerated based on increase in capitalisation (share price) so this deal gives him 12.5% if the market cap gets to 8 billion. I guess I could offer myself the same deal if I had a ltd company and it would be a) just as achievable but b) less newsworthy.

I've seen some hoo-ha about how many zeros in a trillion.  That's simple, the bi, tri quadri, quinti etc prefixes to "llion" indicates the number of 000s after the 2 in million.

So a milion is 1,000,000

Billion 1,000,000,000

Trillion 1,000,000,000,000

And so on,

A trillion has 12 zeros. But when numbers get this big its very hard to visualise their size and that's part of the problem as people think logarithmicly.

I'd be prouder if they ditched the 11 billion worth of shares they currently own.

While we're at it, it would be nice if Norwegians stopped buying fascist-mobils but there's not much sign of that.

Norway, both as a sovereign wealth fund and as a country, made a futile protest while continuing to support the ****.  Nope, not proud at all.

Along with the Norwegian sovereign fund I voted against his remuneration package, I basically voted against all of the board's recommendations. I held on to my TSLA stock just so I could be contrary, I'll sell it now and blow the profits on C&H.
