I have an outside light which is fed by a single cable - the same circuit also feeds the porch light and both can be switched on/off with a single switch - I want to replace the outside light with 2 spotlights and control them both with a switch.

Do I:
1 - Fit a switch in-line on the single cable which feeds the outside light
2 - Then fit a 3-way junction box after the switch
3 - Then run a cable to each light from the junction box
??

2 spots switching separately or together? If the latter just route a cable from the location of the old light around to the new spots. If you use a flex you could clip direct .

2 spots coming on together, controlled from 1 (new) switch.

Replace the current single switch with a double switch. One cable out to the outside lights, one to the porch light
