After a set of squats, the part of my elbow/arm what faces forward while squating is really painful.

Been doing squats of years and this is the first time I had this.

Any idea what I can do? (besides quit squats for life)

er, which part? I recently had a jab of cortosone or something to get rid of a 6 month problem in my elbow and might have to have the other one done. Shouldn't have waited so long as it was an easy job, with 6 days till sorted.

If I'm facing you and I point my elbow at you its the inside part.

According to google its known as golfers elbow. Tennis elbow is the opposite side (so the outside)

Recommended treatment is RICE and it can easily take 6 months+ to sort out. A jab of cortisone is also a possibility.

Thanks MrD

Funny enough it also start about the same time i went to some 40mm wider bars.

I got mine on the outside, but it isn't tennis elbow. With one injury, I'd carried a cyclindrical object across town and damaged something in there. The other arm to sort was from using a shovel scraping gravel from the ground. The first injury was really bad, the pain exruciating. The second not so much and merely flares up from time to time. The doc grabbed my hand and started to bend my hand to check for pain and I had none and he said it wasn't tennis elbow.

Basically he says it can return in future if you repeat the action that caused it. Some sort of unnatural, or intense action. In the case of your bars it could be an unnatural riding position for you.

When he did the jab, he loaded the syringe and jabbed in there, putting in the liquid in various points. The first few days the arm was in intense pain, with the pain then reducing, and finally leaving after 6 days. Only spent 15mins in his office, the jab was quick. You may have to ask your GP's reception to see someone who is trained to do the jab, as the first GP i saw in my practise couldn't do it.

What you can do for now is to rest the arm, don't repeat the action that caused it, and use ibrobrufen gel to reduce the problem in the area. You need to be doing this for a bit before they'll jump to the injection. A lot of minor injuries of this type go away with rest.

Pains me to rest up on sunny days like this but I guess I need to do it. I'll pick up some ibrobrufen gel on the way home.

Hurts both at the gym and on the bike - don't know what came first.

Book in for the docs... usually takes a few weeks to get an appointment anyway.

Thanks
