I've gone through umpteen phones over the years and the glue that's kept all my contacts transferrable has always been Outlook. I believe the same approach would work for the BB and iPhone. BB > Outlook > iTunes > iPhone.

The other way of doing it would be to export your contacts to the PC as a .CSV and then import it into iTunes. Again, I believe this will work in your case, but messing about with .CSVs always makes me itch.

I've used gmail on my iphone for the last 2 years and it's brilliant. Just export the contacts from BB Desktop (which I presume is possible) and import them into your gmail account - they will then automatically appear on your phone.
I have no idea why people bother with itunes for their contacts!.

Can't you just bluetooth them all from one phone to the other?

EDIT - although saying that I had my Voda SIM in the old phone & new T-Mobile SIM in the new phone.....probably won't work if you only have one SIM.

Maybe they don't want to hand Google the names, addresses, email, phone numbers and photos of all their friends?
Or maybe they use some of the contact fields that GMail doesn't support?

iTunes can sync your phone with the "Windows Contacts" stored on your own PC - without getting any advertising companies involved.

Transferring contacts from s BB can be a pain.

If you are on vodafone then they do a 360 people app/thing which loads up everything to the web and you load the app on your iphone and bobs yer uncle.

Worked fine when I did it.

As for the rest: dunno....

Haven't tried in a while but when I last tried using Google Contacts it just bunged half the contact details into the Notes field (things like Birthday, Anniversary, Spouse, Children) and dropped other things like Gender, Department, Primary Phone etc.

I just did a bit of searching and they may have improved things in that respect:

I think you can now do a custom import where you add the headers to the start of the csv file to state which data goes into which field.

I just sink everything to an exchange server and skip iTunes.

@sharkbait: yeah I was talking about automatic Over-The-Air syncing with Google Contacts, obv if you are manually syncing using CSV files then you can tailor it as required.
